We the undersigned property owners would respectfully petition your honorable body to have a "Fire Plug" placed at the corner of Main and South Sixth Streets in said City.

To the Honorable May and Council of the City of Seattle/Wash. Gentlemen:-

Whereas the fire occuring on the morning of July 31st 1891, proves the constant danger menacing the most costly buildings our business district from blocks of flame structures exposing same, therefore:- We the undersigned do hereby petition your most honorable body to extend the fire limits as follows Commencing at the point of the intersection of Yesler Ave and South Fifth Street, running East along the center line of Yesler Ave to the intersection of Yesler Ave and South Sixth Street. Thence South along the center line of South Sixth Street to the intersection of South Sixth and Jackson Streets. Thence West along the center line of Jackson Street to the intersection of Jackson and South Fifth Streets.

I move to amend by inserting after the word "beginning" in the 2nd line of the 4th page of the ordinance the following words: also in all of west space bounded and described as follows: commencing in the center of Yesler avenue where the center line of South Fifth Street intersects the same. Thence East along the center line of Yesler Avenue to the center line of south Sixth Street Thence south along center line of South Sixth Street to the center line of Jackson Street. Thence west on the center line of Jackson street to The center line of South Fifth Street. Running north on the center line of South Fifth Street to the place of beginning."

375 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jan 20 1888 Grant Street Plank Road to a connection with South Sixth Street, read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of John Forbes for the return of certain license money, read & referred to Committee on Licenses & Revenue. Petition of J P Smith for permission to remove the wreck of the Steamer Mississippi read and tabled. Communication from Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade requesting the Council to pass a resolution protesting against the passage of the bill for the division of King County, read, and the Mayor authorized to telegraph the King County representatives at Olympia to use every effort to defeat said bill. The Mayor being called away calls Councilman Furth to the chair. Report from Chief of the Fire Department read and referred to the Comittee on Fire and Water Committee Reports Rec'd From Committee on Fire & Water on Petition of W A Perry & J H Kennedy, engineers, for an increase of salary recommending that the pay of said engineers be increased to $82.50 per month. Adopted. From same Committee on the report of the Chief of the Fire Department as follows we find the fire slips in fair condition and would not recommend any further outlay at present than is recommend in the report of the Harbor & Wharves Committee. We recommend that the purchasing agent be authorized to procure suitable and sufficient suction hose for the use of the Fire Department. We do not recommend the employment of a driver and a tillerman nor the purchase of hoses for the new turn table truck at
