1851 Novr 1st Finished Bushing wheat in fresh field this evening. Rained a little this morning

2nd Novr. Yesterday sent to Faris s Mill flour 7½ Bus. wheat for myself & 5 Bus. Corn & 1 Bus. wheat for Henry & for overseer 1½ Bus Corn & 2½ Bus. wheat, got back in the night Weather clear & warm wheat seems to be Coming well etc etc

5th Finishing getting up & shucking corn from Stony pint only got 6 or 7 Bbls good corn from there Killed Bull this morning weighed 99 lbs to the quarter let Hiram Wyatt have 1 quarter of it cloudy & cool & Rain a little to day – finished sewing wheat & Rye at Mrs McCullocks now getting up Corn, put up my Hogs this morning

18th Went to Lynchg last week for Mrs McCullock Sold wheat etc, we were doing but little while I was gone but shoemaking, as it Rained Went to Court On Monday my horse very much worsted Archer Worsham began chimny monday morning Halling up Corn at Mrs McCullocks still cloudy like for Rain

21st cleared off still about new House chimny cleaning up & burning Brush on Branch, quite Cool Finished chimney to new cabbin

22nd & a clear day & very cool —

24th began to fix up cow shelters & Halled & some woodRails

25th Rained allday & we striped Tobacco in prize Barn Snowed the first time this fall & the Rain melted the most of it Freesed towards night & a very disagreeable day & night, quite cool

26 Striped Tobacco again in prize Barn Halled wood, Archibald Worsham done up Back & Hearth cleared off & a pretty day I went to Mrs McCullocks they are cutting & getting logs for overseers House there.

1857 Oct 30 Sewing wheat fixing Hog pen Halling wood & stalks - I went to Court & gave my Deposition Gratsys adm. against Danl Johns adm or Exer I charged 1.30 or 1.50 for going there this day which they have got to pay —

31st Sewing wheat fanning wheat this morning Mr Hiram wyatt at work with Henry Laying floor of weaving House,- & fixing Door etc fine weather, - Jordan Bushing in wheat sewed in all to this day 22 Bushels in fresh field

Novr 1st Sunday went to see Mr Worsham — 2nd Mr H. Wyatt & Henry finished weaving house Fed shoemaking, cleaning out stables Raking & Halling leaves to Lot, 3 Plows Plowed up Lot for wheat by old prize barn & finished it ready to sew it now

3rd Sewed 4 Bushels in Lot. & Hitched Netty & she done very well after awhile Plowing Tobacco ground next to Crews & going to sewing there to day - Pulling & Halling

4th corn from mountain Fine weather Put up Our Hogs this up before7. (3.)morning & several to put up yet.

5th Finished sewing tobacco ground in wheat next to Crews, sewed near 5 Bushels Smooth head White white there. Halled up 4 Loads of Corn to day from mountain & shucked it out at night, Sewing Rye at Crews

6th Sewing Rye at Crews, Halling up Corn from mountain Loads & all choped round stumps & Bushed wheat ground at Crews yesterday - firing Tobacco yesterday & this morning as its warm foggy & Rainy weather, give Jacob 1 pr fine shoes at andersons had his old ones mended gave him one Dollar in cash

7th Housing Corn to day put 20 Barrels new corn House & nearly 10 Do short Corn in littleHouse Corn made fine round fodder stacks at mountain

1859 June 27th Finished Cutting Our wheat here by 12 Oclock then went to Plowing & Hilling up Fresh ground Tobacco, I went to mills worsham Jno Hagoods Hyram wyatts John Roland John Wilsons Avory Mustains & worshams mill

28th Plowing & Hilling up Fresh ground Tobacco washing wool, Nannie Mrs Hunt & Mrs Templeton went to Catalpha to day

29 Laying by Corn on far Branch next to Capt Whiteheads, Hilled up fresh ground Tobacco, Cutting Oats at Aspen Grove

30th Finished this morning Hilling up Fresh ground Tobacco Laying by Corn over on Branch Bob came ^this morninglittle Henry Plowing Chumbly & Henry cutting Oats to day - very hot weather, Bob Plowed 1 day did

July 1st work any in Oats nor wheat.—I went to aspen Grove, Cothran gone to see his Brother sick. — at Marysville Cutting Oats down there,- warm weather we are Plowing in Corn Tobacco & Hilled up Our cotton etc etc - went to Hodnetts -

2nd Sent to mill this morning for ourselves & Chumbly & to bring home plank etc working Tobacco in Lot Laying by corn 3 stayed at home, I went to CH yesterday on business for JD Hunts Est-

4th Cutting Oats to day little Henry Plowing

5. & 6 Cutting Oats & finished Plowing Tobacco & Laying Bob came again & worked the 6thby corn Hilling up Tobacco

7th Bob came here this morning to work, I started to Lynchg, on business for Bro Hunts Est. 5. & got back the 6th at night Rained a little all the way the 6th Sallie went with me

8th Halling up wheat I went to Mrs Colemans Jnos place & aspen Grove Robin Sick sent for me etc.

1959 Decr 24th Jerry Came home last Sunday & Sally came to day – from Riceville Bro Thompson Brot her to his House Fannie Came down to day

25th I went to Strait Stone praying meeting this day Jerry & me windy & cool or cold

26 Kate Cam Mr Moses Came down to day Me & old Aunt Lucy this morning – clear & windy to day —

27 Mr Moses & Kate here, & fixed my clock Fannie went home last evening –

28. Raining & bad weather I am at home sick

29 Raining & freezing disagreeable day Kate & Mr Moses went home Wednesday evening Sent their cow by Jordan & Sandy

30. Cleared off last night Sallie & Jerry here bad freezing night given Kate Bed stead & furniture Tub axe Earthen ware etc etc etc gone

31st cloudy & like for snow this morning I am going to mount airy to hiring Began to Hall wood cut & mall yesterday & to day cutting malling & Piling wood. Began to Snow about 12 oclock great sleet I had 2 or 3 falls, Snowed about 1 Inch Deep on the Hail & sleet Bill Sick this evening - got well about night, very bad weather at this time,

Jany 1st1860 very cold & cloudy stayed at home

2nd I went to Mr Hunts place & Wyatts to day Cutting in new ground, chumny moved Thursday in Christmas —

3rd Sally left this morning for Danville Jerry Carried her to Doct Thompsons gave her $2½ in money halling wood here to day - & Cutting

4th Sent 5 Bushels wheat to Mill to day Cutting & halling wood this day — still cold weather

5 I started to Louisa to day Henry & Claborne sewed Hard grass seed this morning & then all went to cutting in next

1860 Jany 24th Burnt sewed fenced in & covered 1 Plant Bed on Road & fixed for another, - William A Shields here helping us burn to day

25th Burnt Sewed fenced in & covered Plant Bed on Road, put Guano on both, etc - Mr Shields helped us again to day & left

26th went to Mr Pannills to day to get destraining warrant vs H. Wyatt for J D Hunts Est went to aspen Grove, in evening. claiborne malling sent to Post office this morning, Halling leaves 5 Loads for Stables Barn, etc Halled up 1 Stack Oats this evening - I am fixing to start to Danville in the morning If its notraining

27th & 28. I went to Danville brot Sallie home fine weather, Plowing & mauling next to Whiteheads, Beding for Corn

29 Stayed at home D. R Hunt come after Fannie

30th Halled wood mauling etc piling Brush

31st Halling Rails mauling next to Whitehead began to Rain a little. I went to old place & Hodnetts to day

Feby 1st Rained & this morning gro -und covered with snow, about 1 or 2 Inches Deep, shelling Corn spining Sent Henry to Mill 2½ Bus. wheat for chop 2½ Do for mean & 2½ Bushels Corn for meal & 1 at mill to bring home, I am going to Sarah McCullocks —

February 2nd Sent Jerry Smith to Yates shop & Mill Carrd 2 Bus. wheat for beat flour Big Broad axe to fix by Friday & little Broad to do to day & bring home, etc - very cold this morning 10 Degrees below zero,- clear weather

3rd very cold I went to aspen Grove mauling & Burning Brush next to Capt Whiteheads
