Deller for 1 Billiard table for 3 months from Jan 16, 1884 R. Howard for 1 Billiard table for 3 months from Jan 3, 1884 Frank Lessman for 1 Billiard table for 3 months from Jan 13, 1884 T. B. Timony for 1 Billiard table for 3 months from Jan 7, 1884

Ordered that the Street Commissioner be and he is hereby instructed to lower sidewalk on south side of Washington Street fronting Geo W. Young's property. Ordered that the matter of considering the rights of 2 additional Councilmen appointed by Act of Legislature to seats as Councilmen be and the same is laid over for special business tomorrow evening. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday January 10, 1883 at 7 1/2 o'clock p.m.

Jan 10/84 Be it remembered on this the 10th day of January 1884 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in the Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment.

The following Officers are present, towit: His Honor the Mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, B.F. Day, Geo W. Harris, Chas McDonald, U.M. Rasin and F.W. Wusthoff

By reason of the mobility by illness of His Honor the Mayor to attend Councilmen U.M. Rasin is appointed President of the Council to serve during the meeting. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: And now the Council proceeds to consider the matter of

454 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Apr. 17/84 From Geo. Kinnear et al for permission to grade Temperance Street from Depot Street to Bluff Street. Referred to Street Comtee. From Geo. Kinnear submitting plat, of "G. Kinnear addition to the City of Seattle." Referred to Surveyor for report at next meeting. From Koff & Henerish et al to improve Beach Road. Referred to Street Comtee. Ordered that the Surveyor be & is hereby instructed to survey all proposed plats of additions to the City before the approval thereof at the expense of the owner of the land. Committees Reports From Comtee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds rejecting the petition of Thos. L. Quinn to erect fruit stand foot of Columbia Street. Adopted. From Comtee on Health& Police recommending that all City Prisoners be turned over to James Bogart he to work them & to receive $2.50 per day for every day the prisoners are worked & 25 cents per meal for boarding each of said prisoners. Adopted. From Fire Comtee recommending the granting of the petition of Chas. Baker et al for recognition as a Fire Co. & recommending that said Co. be furnished a suitable Engine, Hose, Hose Cart & necessary appliances & building. Adopted. From Finance Comtee approving Treasurers Reports for March. Adopted. From Street Comtee recommending that the Surveyor be instructed to report the facts in matter of the application of Wm. Hawkins for an allowance for excavation on 4th Street. Adopted. From License Comtee rejecting the application of T. B. Timony for a Retail liquor license. Re-referred.
