The Quadrangle Club, Chicago, March 2, 1905.

Dear Dr. Jordan:

The morning papers announce the death of Mrs. Stanford. What a fearful tragedy. I hope that the investigations will at least prove it to be due to some ghastly blunder in mixing or mistaking medicine.

When I introduced myself to Mrs. Stanford last Winter in Cairo on the strength of my personal acquaintance with you, and as a Stanford graduate, she received me with a kindly welcome that was very charming. She spoke a great deal of you, read me some letters from you, and indeed your name was in almost every sentence, and I realized how deep was the impression that your views and efforts had made upon her.

You understood as of course no one else can Mrs. Stanford's affection and loyalty to you and the University. But it will be a pleasure to you to know what has been the impression on others.

Kindly remember us to Mrs. Jordan.

Very sincerely yours,

Bradley M. Davis.
