With all Mrs. Stanford's opportunity to go astray, it seems almost miraculous that she was able to remain faithful to the end to the purposes which she and Senator Stanford formed. It is comparatively easy to have good intentions, but there are few people who are strong enough to remain true to them under all the difficulties under which she labored.
