27 Sewed clover seed this day Sewing Oats & Hilling new ground weather warm & cloudy

28. Sewing Oats 4 horses, cloudy & warm, took 1 House Tobacco down to day to prize, - , Halled up one stack Oats more to sew. -- Danl> Hunt got Doct White to cut his lip about 4 weeks ago last Monday

29 A Fine morning sewing Oats & Cleaning up new ground, last night about 10 Oclock Malissa bornMalissa's child being 10 she has had, lost 2 Nicy & Morris

30 Treading Oats this evening to seed. Sewed 30 Bushels, alse Raking new ground Fed gone to mill 10½ Bushels corn Planted Onions Beets & Salsify yesterday

31. Sewing Oats & cleaning up new ground

April 1 Sewing Oats & Cleaning up Do weather cool & clear - in evening Rained a little this morning —

2nd Clear & cool - 3. Clear & cool Sewing Oats Collering & Raking groundbig new plowed up Garden

4 Finished sewing Oats sewed upward of 40 Bushels this year Collering etc -Sewed flax seed to day

5 Plowing up Sweet Potatoe Patch & Plowing for corn & coltering.

6- Coltering & Plowing for corn

7. Finished Hilling little new ground

20th May 1848. Planted Greens & tomattoes & Irish Potatoes 18 & 19th Inst. = 21st walked up to Mrs Colemans this day Kitt returned from Lynchg about 2 oclock. gone 2½ days — all safe & sound

22nd Finishing Hilling our second yrs land Plowing in corn, - weather fine & dry on Saturday 20th Planted some Tobacco

24th Cutting off new ground Hills & Planted Tobacco the whole day. - Planted all our new groundno Rain

25. Planting this morning in second Land Plowing Sweet Potatoes & Corn & cotton Hilling on Branch yet -

26 Plowing corn at stony point Thining corn this morning began to weed corn at 12 oclock.

27. replanted Cotton. gone to mill 6 Bus. corn. weeding corn by Malissas House & finishing Plowing over corn once except some wet spots. fine growing weather Sent for Mr Lewis’s man cow [unclear] [D?] took him & several more Sheared sheep Thining corn & nearly done, Planted Tobacco yesterday & to day in second yrs ground & finished

29 Planting on Branch to day & bushing Oats etc etc,

30 Raining & doing but little —

31. waggon started to Lynchg, weeding cotton Patch Potatoes & Planted Irish Potatoes. weeding corn etc. —

1848 Oct 16 weather cloudy & like for Rain my wife gone to Mrs Hunts

17. Finished sewing fresh ground Tobacco Land 3½ Bushels sewed one that white from Mr McCullocks - weather cloudy & Rainy began to Hall up stalks from mountain field & sew that, Rainy & ground to[o] to Plowwet

18. Rained a fine Rain commenced Sewing Tobacco Lot this morning, white wheat from Mr McCullocks

29 Firing Tobacco & Digging Sweet & BushelsIrish Potatoes & finished sewing Lot

20 & 21st Firing Tobacco Halling stalks from mountain field & finished sewing that in wheat.

23rd gone to Mr. Jno D Hunts after Bricks to Lay Dining Room floor & get apples waggon & cart - cloudy & like for Rain Give Bro Angel got 525 Bricks 1½ Bus wheat carried it to Bro Yates for him about 10 agodays

24 Halling corn from stony with waggon 9 Loads this in all

30. Shucked out & put up corn from stony point. gathered corn at home 4 Loads & to day shucking that Halling up stalks from stony point Put up Fatting Hogs this day the Ballance say 19 now & 3 some time ago & Dick in yard

Nov. 1st Seeding wheat in Lot, by Mallisas houseat home

2nd Finished there & gone to stony pint

22nd Beautifull weather for business. nearly done Halling up our corn except Hog Corn next to orchard ——

23 Finished gathering & Housing Corn except about 3 Loads next to Orchard for our Hogs yet on stalks Housed nearly Bbls150

24 began to cut little growth in new ground joinging[adjoining] Mountain field Sent Henry to mill with 1 Log for Hhd Stans[?] 3 Bus. wheat & 1 Bbl Corn —

30 Went to Lynchg this week with 41½ Bushel wheat sold at 90¢. got back in 3 days cutting all the time while we were gone little growth in new ground - quite dry & fine weather this day Halling up corn for Mr. Neal & Mr Myers came this morning to work on new House on cutting in new ground — —

Dec. 1st Covered cutting House Mr Myers & me Sent Jacob & Jordan to mill 1 of them for Mr Myers, for a days work Henry Halling corn stalks up & Lila Balance cutting little growth & grubing in groundnew Rained a little in evening —

2nd Raining snowing & Hailing all day very disagreeable day indeed Give our Poeple out their winter shoes And, Malissa Henry alse Jane Ann & Jordan & Fed had Blankets

3. Striping Tobacco in middle Barn 36 33 sticks short 73 sticks Lugs. Fed Made Sally Shoes Lila spining, cleared off to day

4 - cutting little growth in new ground Henry cutting slab Timber for stable

5. Mr Myers getting Boards for Hester Anns stable Henry helping him

1849 Dec. 5th. Pulling away our Greens Halling wood etc etc etc etc — Drawed out of Barrel 7¼ Gallons Whiskey - Sent & given to Mrs Crews nearly 2 Gallons sa[lost in margin] Given Mr Myers 1 lb Tobacco -

Dec 6th Cutting Small growth in new ground went to Mr. Pannills for Mrs Hunt

Dec 7th. Sent Henry to mill 1 Bbl corn 1 Large Log for weather boarding & Bag cotton weighing 47 lb cutting logs to Day for Stable — etc etc etc

8 Raking leaves fixing straw Racks cutting in new ground put spts Turpentine on Hogs

9th rainy day & cool ——

10 - Halling wood ½ day for Mr Neal cutting in newground cloudy & cool Tobacco ½ daystriping

12. cutting Halling up logs for Stable

12. Malissa child a Boy Born about 8 ocl =ock in morning Raised Stable to day & laid floor in cutting House very cold cloudy & like for snow or Rain

13. Fed started to Mrs Hunts to make shoes grubing & Halling wood from new ground cart & waggon — still cloudy & like for snow

14 striping Tobacco in middle Barn Halled out 2 Loads straw. cloudy & like for Rain —cloudy & moderate striped yesterday & to day 86 sticks Lugs & 45 of short Tobacco —
