1853 Decr 3rd Given out all the negroes their shoes, Fed alse Jordan, Henry & malissa had Blankets this year or to day – clear & fair day weather very cool Brought Filmore Home this evening, Mr Miller School Broke up last evening

7th Sent 2 Logs to yates for scantling 16 went to Mrs McCullocks after Plows etc Balance Cutting & Grubbing in new ground

8th Henry Halling 1 Log to Yates for sheetingthis morning Balance Cutting Snowing this morning Haled another & then went to Mrs McC

9. Halled 2 this morning for sheeting plank & then an oak one for Box Plank & now one for Hhd Staves, Balance Cutting in new ground very cold to day look like for snow

12 Halling Rails Round fresh ground Cutting & Grubing in new ground fine weather John D Hunt & Lady here last Saturday night. Mrs Overby Died in Charlotte as we hear on morning between 5 & 6 oclock in morning the 10th Decr 1853 Elder Plunket Preached his last Sermon on Sunday & I paid him in behalf of the Church $65–00

15th Decr Begun to Burn Plant Bed on branch above House over 20 yds square took us 3 days nearly

17th Sent Henry to Farris Mill 1 Bbl Corn & 1 Bbl wheat.

19 went to Court stayed 2 days about Decree to Divide McCullocks Est.

8th Halling Out Manure to day - Collering 2nd years ground, Cutting off new ground Tobacco Hills to day,= quite cool this day Sitting by fire - Doct Crews here Lucy Ann etc

11. Planting Tobacco nearly all Our new ground

12 Sent to mill 1½ Barl Corn & 3½ Bus. wheat Picking Plant Bed Took down Our Lugs prizing etc Manured Plant this morning Sent for waggon at shop cloudy & warm

13. Coltering & Hilling 2nd yrs Tobacco Land Halled up Stack fodder this morning Let John D Hunt have 2 or 3000 Collard Plants Finished Hilling fresh ground this evening & worked Out Potaotes Irish, & began to Hill in third years ground, cloudy & warm,Set out 2 Squares Greens in Garden

15. Coltering & Hilling in 3rd yrs ground put malissa to Hilling to day the 16th

16. Nannie went to Mr M Fitzgeralds yesterday Anns child Born on Sunday last Deformed in its Legs. - weather Dry -Kitty sick again this morning Hilling & Coltering in 3rd yrs ground Cate has gone to Store this morning for Fannie White Fitzgerald took Down all Our Lugs & halling up Second from middle Barn & got it hanging out etc

22 last week weeding Corn & Plowing Corn Harrowing etc Henry Coltered bottoms for Tobacco in fresh ground also last Planted that is Cutt off & Planted Second yrs Land in Tobacco & also all tho Hills in 3rd yrs that we did not Cut off when we hilled it - we Just cut off & Planted our Hills that was not Cutt off Part of our 3rd yrs & part of new ground is yet to Plant besides the Lot & bottoms in fresh ground,

10th Novr Fountain Came here to finish my Corn house yesterday friday a little after 12 Oclock & worked till Saturday Night @ $14 pr month

11th Cloudy & drisling Rain —

19th Fountain Wyatt finished Corn House & we have settled for it & we are Housing Corn

23 finished Housing all we have shach out & are halling up balance weather Cool & windy - etc –– –– Henry Federick Jordan alse malissa & Lila had Blankets this day - Sometime ago I gave Claiborne Abram & little Henry Caps & Lowry my Hat. - very dry fall & first of Decr

3rd Decemr I went to see Mr Fitzgerald last Friday & Stayed there till he Died saturday night about 10 Oclock in night, – We are Grubing Cutting wood & halling up Corn stalks last week, this morning Henry goes to Mill with log for Tobacco Barn Balance Cutting & Grubbing —

4 Halling Logs to Yates Saw Mill Grubbing Jordan cut wood at Mr Neals – James M Fitzgerald Died at his Fathers on the 1st day of Decemr 1855 about 10 Oclock in the night We have burnt & sewed 2 Large Plant Bed this week & last week Say 1st Decr 1855 got our sheep this week Killed this 12th Decr 1855 8 Fat Hogs Halling wood & Cutting & Grubing

12th We have Cold open weather very dry fall indeed so far – – – – – –

20th Cutting little growth in new ground Grubbing in Corn field on Johns branch Raising weaving House have Commenced plowing on branch for Corn fine open weather Jordan gone to with 3 Bushels screan wheat for chop 2 Bus Do for flour & 4 Bus. Corn for meal

July 22nd 1859 J D Hunts Estate Dr To JW Graves 4½ Butter @ 15¢ 1 lb Butter for Do 15¢ charged

Commencing 11th March 1856. This morning I Fed my Dogs as usual Caesar I reckon got Chocked & Dyed in 2 minutes or 4 minutes, we are treading out Oats this morning fencing about Tobacco Tobacco lot. Very like for Snow Soon this morning Very cold indeed windy & tremendous yesterday — Jordan Halling Rails around Corn field fence & lot at House yesterday & to day – — wrote to Danl Brown Indiana in this month etc etc

14 Plowing for corn till yesterday began to sew Oats Plowing Tobacco Lot by Garden Henry & Jacob Finishing Garden, Jordan halled Rails 2 days this week & finished malling wood in new ground, alse cleaning out Stable, Kitty Clem etc cleaning up on Branch Light full of Snow the 13th Thursday in evening

14th A beautifull day indeed clear & moderate

15th Went to meeting at Strait Stone fine day -

16th Beautiful day. pretty Cool & dry at this time Plowing up & sewing Oats On branch malling wood & Halling out new ground took up Irish Potatoes this day set out Turnips for seed about 100 in Turnip Patch last week,- clem alse & Kitty Piling wood in new ground,-

17th Raining to day Sewing some Oats Shoe mending fencing sent Henry to store, sent 1/6 for Paint & allum

20 Finished fencing Sewing Oats by Malissa House windy - - Fannie White here this evening Jerry & George Edd finished nailing on old Paling [water stain]day - Striping to day & yesterday [smudge][water stain] Rain, sent Mrs Moseleys will to [water stain] Geo. - Sawed about 40 [water stain] etc

6 Decr 1856 Halled Mr Yates 1 Log & Did not get any meal to day yesterday Sent 2 Bags wheat for flour 5 Bushels Fed alse & Kitty Grubbing Sandy & claiborne cutting stacks & wood - Owe Mr Yates 2 logs now Small = Jordan has not come back yet, about 10 OclockCome back Jacob Turning out his Hhd Tobacco to day etc Brot Scantling 1 Turn Chop stuff & 3 Turns meal this morning & evening 1 Do & left 2 of Corn & 5 of wheat carried another log for Yates in evening & 2 Turns Corn for meal standing Turns etc Sent 2 Logs this evening making 3 trips to day last time 1 for Yates the other for ¾ Square Edged to be divided —

7th clear cool day being Sunday

8th Killed 8 Hogs this morning Cut them out Salted them Grubing & Cutting at new ground Halled up stack fodder this morning Jacob fixed cart shelter etc etc etc

9th Grubing cutting & Halling wood - etc waggon starts to Lynchg to day

15 The last week we have been to Lynchg Carried Jacobs Tobacco & some for me & Turkeys sold the sorry Lugs for $6¾. Turkeys 60¢ round Cut & Grubed while we were gone, & striped some Tobacco in new prize Barn, bot a Carriage & Brought Home from school She came to Lynchg last week say about the 15th decemr 1856 - Did not bring any of her accounts with her

16th Put Plank in Barn Cutting stacking wood Fixing Corn & Cob Crusher to day Malissa, Catharine Fannie Johnson & Nelson I sent up to Fannie W Fitzgerald to stay one year.
