1858 Saturday 20th Overseer has gone up on the River to see Mr Smith rode rose,- hung up balance of Our meat making Brooms shelling corn Kate & sallie went to Mr Millers Wednesday Cleared off this morning but quite cold, Snow melts but little; my hogs gone again,= Mr Joel Hardwick stayed here last night —
21st weather more moderate Snow melting to day cant find our Hogs - Sent Jerry for Cate & Sallie this morning
22nd Raining last night & this morning Turned to a snow & weather Kept falling till 12 Oclock, Tobacco give a little & we put some out on the ground & are striping in Barn back of Garden desperate bad weather very sloppy & wet - and as well as I recollect not a real pretty day under foot & overhead in this month.
23rd Striping Tobacco to day back of Garden Jordan halled wood for overseer & 2 Loads of straw halled out etc very cold day I went to Rice but no meat yet -
24th Malling Halling wood & burning Brush by overseers house to day Jerry gone to shop to get Rose shod before & to Mrs Hunts to see John Hunt about meat etc – Kate gone to Fannies this morning Cold cloudy day ground frozen this morning
=25th Sent Henry Millers Mill 4 Bushels Corn for meal 2 Bags 4½ Bushels wheat for flour & 2½ Bushels wheat for overseer; - my wheat gained a little say [1 lb?] the corn lost 4 lbs at Millers Mill malling & burning Brush up at overseers house nearly done

[…] 1866 Sewing wheat choping around […], where wheat sewed, nannie & me [w]ent to S. S. meeting Bro. Lacy Preached & accepted the care of the Church 1867 to Preach Twice in the month, - Bro Glass did not Come
11th went to S S meeting Bro Lacy Preached
12th. Sewing wheat & finished up here by near Barn. Cutting down Corn in corner next to woods going to Stoney p[o]int for wheat —
13th Halling up Corn & Henry preparing the Same but did not get it ready. I went up to Jerrys,Ned Cobbs Came to Ditch 6 by 2½ or 3 feet deep & wide I find him new Ditch I am to give him 10 Cents a yard old Ditch cleaning out & straitening 4 Cents pr yard I find him 3 or 4 of spotted Sows Pigs in Pasture or gone one I have never Seen them Since I turn them out, 3 Black & 3 Yellows one Comes up
14 Shucked out some corn & put away our Greens & seed cabbage
15. began to Cut down Corn at mou tain Spring & it rained nearly all day I went up to Blanks s to measure corn rained & throwed us out –
16 Made Hog pen & got wood little Henry Sick. all day I give him medicine I went up to Blanks’s & finished measuring corn cloudy & like for rain,
17th Cutting down & piling Corn at mountain spring
18 I went to meeting S.S. Mr Smith preached
19. I am going to court, Henry went to Millfor himself Cutting down corn at mountain field –
20th I Come home Tuesday night Halling up & Pulling of corn to day etc. Billy at work
