1848 Nov. 2 Fed shoemaking made 3 pr alse pulling off corn at stack & feeding Hogs with slops

3 Henry Paid Mrs Neal $2 sent by me McC from Mr gone to mill Whites 5 Bus corn 1 Bus wheat for himself & 1 Large Hart log for Railing 2½ by 3 Inches Very large frost this morning Shucking corn to day alse & Jordan

4 Finished sewing wheat this day & bushing sewed about 28 or 29 Bushels - Housed 6 or 7 Barrels corn more began to Rain to day & this night Raining nearly all night wind Blows very hard, Fed shoemaking, -

5 Raining this morning & quite cool wind from N West.

6 Killed little Beef, Fed shoemaking Laying dining Room floor

7 Do Do & shucking —

8. Killed 3 Hogs put up first & Henry went to saw & Grist mill, Doct Whites 3 Bus. Grain & 1 Large Log for paling, 3 Lengths Got one Turnip off branch the largest I ever saw. weighs 7 lbs & 26 Inches in circumference Cool frosty mornings Finishing shucking Corn & Housing this day -

9 Went to saw mill again 1 Large Log for Paling 2 lengths pulling up Greens & apples this day -

10. gone to saw mill 1 Log for Railing Fed shoemaking alse at kettle began to Snow a little

11 Halling Rails shoemaking spining etc etc likely to snow or Rain

1848 Dec. got down part of mountain field barn & middle barn Began the 6th yesterday to cut small growth in big new ground Mr Myers & Henry putting up waggon shelter & getting slabs etc etc

9 Cutting little growth in big new ground Lila Halling wood yesterday Henry & Jordan gone to mill Finished waggon shelter etc etc, cloudy & like for Rain

11 Cutting in big new ground little growth Henry went to Doct Whites Mill 1 Large Log for Palings 2 Turns Corn 2 Bus. wheat & 2 Bushels for chop Screan

12 all hands striping Tobacco in field Barnmountain RainingRecd the flour meal & chop etcthis morning & a little cooler

13 Killed Poll for a beef - Henry gone to Doct Whites mill 5 Bushels Corn & 1 Large Log for Paling

14 Striped 3 days & not quite done mountain field Barn. still cloudy —

15 Cutting little growth in new ground Federick gone to Morton Pannill 10 stack Corn fair & pretty moderate day in evening Halled 7 Loads leaves etc etc Mr Jeremiah McCullock Died, 14th a little before 11 Oclock in night

16 Cutting in new ground all hands Mr McCullock Buried — about 12 Oclock

1865 Decr 20th. Moved to [torn corner] Grove from Cedar Hill this day = family except Smith came here to live weight of Jordens & Sandys Blade fodder Jerrys takes & settles with them for I take fodder here & he takes it at Ceder Hill

Jordens & Sandys pt Sorghum 436 Lowry & Abram pt Sorghum & Some Sorrys Blades 360 H[?] Crab grass 90 lbs

1866 Janry 11th. Seven negroes thu[damaged] lived here, Jorden Sandy Buck & Lowry 1 Barrel Corn a ps went to Cedar Hill & shucked it to day & give Jerry nearly 2 Barrels more

1872 July 27th 1 G Hoe 1 H Hoe 1 frow X Cut Saw 1 Auger 1874

1866 Sept. 13th Days that Dick & Alex, worked in My Plant [damage] of Logs halled [illegible] Pulling fodder 1 day now, from 10 Oclock till night. - 14th Both pulled fodder all day 1 ps upper leather pr Alex Entered on Book

1866 Augt 7th Carried 1 Log 10 feet Long to Miller Mill to saw

1866 9th Augt Carried 1 Log to Yates 11 feet for Hhd staves to day

10th Carrd one 8 feet Long for Plank for Hen house, carried another same length same day making 3 at Millers & 1 at Yates to this 11th Augt 1866,

14th Carried another to Yates 11 feet long for Hhds staves by Henry little or young & he brot hind wheels home

15 Carried another 14 feet long Millers for Covering -Carried another same day for same purpose 16th augt Carried another for Planking sides

Began to Sew Oats 6th March 1866 Sewed — 1½ Bus.

1866 Augt 18th Sent 1 Log to Millers to pay for sawing 1 for Sept 3rd Card 2 more large ones & will all 3 not sawed yet 5 Carried 1 more to saw & divide [illegible] now to to saw.

28th Very Cold day & wind from N West

29th Cold & cloudy not so windy this day & like for Snow or Rain to night I have not engaged hands for next year for myself nor Mr Hunts place

30th cloudy & like for falling weather

31st Snowed last night about 2 Inches Deep Jerry stayed here last night

1st Janry 1867 Still cloudy & snowed a little I went to old place to day & settled with Bybee for Lynchg Trip in Decmr

2nd Snowing this morning my hogs has not been up for Several days major Boler Came here to live

3rd Major Boler Came here yesterday & set in for the year 1867 $91.25 to day we done nothing but feed Cut wood etc Henry & family left here yesterday Snow about shoe Deep, disagreeable weather found my Hogs yesterday & they Came up this morning - cloudy weather

4 cleared off & very pretty dayMajor is Halling manure out of my stale in Garden to day snow melted some engaged with Mr H Dalton to live with me this year to move tomorrow

5. I went to old place hired Tom & Jordan for this year to work there major Cut up wood & shucks Cold day

6 Major went home, more moderate weather

7 Major Cutting in new ground Mr Dalton moved here 1 Load this evening Wyatt Hunt came here night is to work 2 or 3 months at $8 pr month, Richard & myself fixed door to Shelling room & Gate next to my stable weather more moderate
