1866 Decr 13 It has been quite cool […] " 17 Begin to Snow & Hail Saturday we f[…] Halling up Blade fodder & stacks but did finish our Cow Shelters put 3 Large stacks good fodder in Barn On Mountain 2 good ones in Barn by Cow shelters & 3 Sorrys ones Cutting wood this morning Kate & Mr Moses Came Saturday sent to Mill on Horse back

18th Sent Henry to Mill again Carried another Turn Corn for meal & will bring home the Turn there cloudy & like for Snow, fixing cow shelters Halling 2 Load wood last night & expect to Hall brush & wood to day – 2 young Calves star & white Sook will have one shortly - quite cool at this time

19 Halled & cut wood & fixed to Kill Hogs

20 Killed all our Hogs but one to day & Salted them very cold this night Snow & Hail melts but little yet Star & White got young calves & looking for another now every day

21. 22 23 - 24 We have been fixing cow shelters cutting wood, Hauling wood dry wood Brush for cow shelters I went to old place last friday & saturday Cut out Hogs salt up Pork etc Henry Jr went to mill Twice for me & once for themselves last week this day 24 Snow melted smartly creek very much up, we have had a very rough spell for over a week now very sloppy indeed, Turned out my Boar & 1 young Sow for Sarly

25. & 26. Staid at home 25 & 26 went to Mr Banks & Chalk Level settled with negroes at old place except Wyatt & Wmcloudy & likely for Rain or Snow

29th Cold & cloudy not so windy this day & like for Snow or Rain to night I have not engaged hands for next year for myself nor Mr Hunts place

30th cloudy & like for falling weather

31st Snowed last night about 2 Inches Deep Jerry stayed here last night

1st Janry 1867 Still cloudy & snowed a little I went to old place to day & settled with Bybee for Lynchg Trip in Decmr

2nd Snowing this morning my hogs has not been up for Several days major Boler Came here to live

3rd Major Boler Came here yesterday & set in for the year 1867 $91.25 to day we done nothing but feed Cut wood etc Henry & family left here yesterday Snow about shoe Deep, disagreeable weather found my Hogs yesterday & they Came up this morning - cloudy weather

4 cleared off & very pretty dayMajor is Halling manure out of my stale in Garden to day snow melted some engaged with Mr H Dalton to live with me this year to move tomorrow

5. I went to old place hired Tom & Jordan for this year to work there major Cut up wood & shucks Cold day

6 Major went home, more moderate weather

7 Major Cutting in new ground Mr Dalton moved here 1 Load this evening Wyatt Hunt came here night is to work 2 or 3 months at $8 pr month, Richard & myself fixed door to Shelling room & Gate next to my stable weather more moderate

8th Janry 1867 Wyatts set into wor[…] moved Harry Dalton here Agreed with Sam Gilbert to work in plantation & his wife to cook & his son to wait on my wife in the House bring water etc etc -

9th Wyatt put up ashes in hopper & fixing up shelter over it Mr Dalton gone to Mill. Major Cutting

10 clear & cold I went to shop with Jerry to get his Horse shod Cutting in new ground Wyatt Halling wood, made wood body to hall wood My Hogs all been gone nearly a week, Same here fixing up the House for him to live

11th. Cutting etc I went to hunt my hogs, spotted Sow come none of the rest all

12th, went to meeting few poeple there Sam moving - & his wife came to day at night Cutting in new ground

13th. Sunday I went to meeting few poeple disagreeable day & likely for rain & snow

14th began to Cut ground Sam finished moving – [axe?] & he went to work & soon it began to rain we then shelled Corn & fanned out toting end wheat for Cows friday last red cow had a fine Calf bull red Halled some chaff to Cutting House Rained all the evening - Jacob Came here last night weather moderated

15. Wyatt gone @ 12 Oclock to see Pl[?] buried Cutting & Halling woood, cleared off this morning - soon fixed in prize take down Tobaccobarn to
