4. Sun shng shining grubing & cutting on Branch, Halling manure to turnip Patch & Rails for Hog Pen
6th Yesterday Rained moderate and we Rep =lanted the Lot at Lilas House & the granary Lot & began to Hill up Lots & new ground - Fed shoemaking Henry cutting on branch alse breaking flax Phil gone to shop
9th. Hilling up new ground Tobacco Plowing Greens in Garden
18th. The weather has generally been seasonable since the 1st August. Working Out Garden this morning. Went to Lynchburg 13th & 14 to get Paints to Pain[t] House,-
21. Rains every night or day & sometimes both machine got out Mrs. Hunts, wheat woodings machine Wrote to Mr Taylor Painter to come the 15th & do our work.

23rd, Janry 1866. Have been malling to day & Halling wood out of new ground, made dog House to day Jerry Came down to day moderate day & no rain or snow.
24th Raining this morning & nearly all night quite a day of Rain & cold, cloudy & dark, making Bars & getting off Sorghum Seed - cant do much –
25. Rained nearly all night, a little freese this morning Ben Raking up manure cleaning Out Stables Balancing malling to day – Pride going to Capt Wooding to see Something about going to School to new London, heard nothing from Capt Wooding about the school
26th malling in new Ground Ben raking up manure then cutting up trees in new ground tolerable day I went to Cedar Hill old place & Rolands to see about makings shoes for Pride, Bybee gone to Motleys Carried all the Cotton to have Picked Jerry at home at new ground I brot home filling some bottles my Tin Box, Varnish & foot a[?],– lent Jerry Bill I rode his Horse home
27 Still Cloudy & like for rain or snow, Pride & me made 6 Hens nest, finished malling, halled out straw 2 days this week, the sun not seen 3 days not seen much cloudy nearly all the week repairing Gear House nailing on Boards
28th clouday day did not see the sun
29th. Snowed Saturday evening & night weather moderate Began to clean up new ground in fresh field Sun shining to day, young Sow in Granary lot had 5 Pigs Sunday morning very littely the Large young sow brot from Cedar Hill has been sick 4 days I think she is a little better this morning

upon the Shucks Snowing yet stoped snowing about 12 or 1 oclock Snow 3 or 4 inches Deep
Feby 6th Sam hauling wood in evening for himself & me some I expect
— 7th. Snow about 4 inches deep very cold tolerable clear & cold this morning
8th. Cutting in new ground all day & I went to Mr James Kelley - Nannie & Brot Joe with hercome home yesterday
9th Striping Tobacco in old prize Barn Millard W left & did know when to strip Richards Tobaccohe would return
10th. Hauled Straw this morning & 1 Stack fodder Cutting in new ground, to day & trying to finish snow nearly gone Did not get done Cutting in new ground I went to Mount Airy to day to get P. Pints
11th. I went to S S Meeting
12 Rained all night & Raining this morning
13. Cloudy this morning Cutting rail lumber On Out Side fence next to Mr Lewiss Martin Broke his axe to day Raining to night Joseph Richard son here Come home with Nannie last week I went to Mr Woodings to see Liza sick & then went to burning brush with Lewis
14th. We all Striped in old prize barn nearly done Striping all Sam has there Snow about 3 inches deep with hail Very Sloppy & disagreeable to day
15. Striped all we had in order & Went to Richards Barn & Striped a little thats Was down & in order = finished by 12 oclock 16th & then went to Cutting in new ground cleared off & weather moderate
17th Friday Nannie gone up John R Whiteheads Edd carried her Joe Our folks are Cutting Rail Timber in John's (field Rained & Hailed a little Dark night
18th Raining tremendous hard ever since about day Break this morning then cleared off
