1846 Feby 12 Mr Meyers finished silling up Hhd this day he is pidling about gates Tu[bs?]etc etc trying to get 13 done this day

14 Saturday Plowing for corn 2 Plows & commenced malling on Branch, worked out till 11 oclock then it began to snow rain etc Very disagreeable evening I went to meeting and striping that day -

15. Trees Hanging with Ice not much snow on ground

16. Court Day Went Sunday evening to Bro Stone on my way to CH. Malling on Branch, Lila & alse cutting old Logs in new ground - Phil cutting on branch Henry & Fed malling commencing snowing soon in morning & we went to striping Tobacco about 10 Oclock all hands Snowed all day & continues on in the night very fast very rough matter

19 Last night a Dreadfull night Rained Thundered & Lightened & freezed, Trees hang=ing with Icicles this morning, striping Tobacco, broke off in the night & quite clear & weather moderate

20 clear & tolerable moderate weather

1849 March 14th cloudy & Rainy this day striping Tobacco & trying to finish, - warm wet weather, Finished striping Tobacco this evening

15th Rained nearly all night cloudy damp weather & moderate. More cloudy weather this past winter & march up to day than I ever saw. Decemr. was cloudy damp moderate weather. Janry was cold & some snow. Feby windy cold weather March has been wet all the time, no Oats sewed yet in this neighborhood Fencing corn field fence to day & halling wood with waggon,- Finished fence -

16 Still cloudy & damp Plowing & began to colter in new ground this day -

17 Coltering in little new ground & one waynearly done Plowing for corn alse shrubing for corn Henry fixing garden etc helping me weather foggy in morning & then cleared off pretty day again which makes 2 this month

18 Pretty day & went to Bro. Stones toPittsyacourt to get Mrs Cullocks & Mrs Colemans Papers

19 went to court. clear pretty day —

20 Fanning out Oats & began to sew oats this morning, carried 4 Bushels to stony pint to day Fed & alse at new ground - - & Jordan clouded up & began to Rain about 11 Oclock Lila Plowing for corn at home X Pink had a cow calf Sunday 18th last

21 Rained very yesterday evening & last night cleared off & Cool to day prizing Lugs & cleaning up new ground

1850 Jany 4th & 5th cutting big growth in new ground went to Mrs Coleman Grastys & McCullocks cold weather - 6th. cloudy & like for snow

7th cloudy & Raining this morning. striping Tobacco in middle barn to day -

12th Cutting Big growth Henry gone to mill Card 1 Large Log for flooring Plank 5 Bus corn

13th cloudy & like for snow, cold

14. Snowed last night very bad night snow about 2 Inches Deep still cloudy Striping Tobacco in prize barn

15. Finished striping prize Barn this morning my wife & F W. gone to Mrs Hunts clear & cool to day — snow not melted much

16 cutting Big growth in new ground began to Rain in evening

17. striping Tobacco in new Barn

18. striping in Do Do took all the lugs down in middle barn, cloudy & raining littlea

19 Halled leaves & straw & shucks

20. Rained in evening & I stayed all night at Bro Stonestarted to Court

21 Rained all night & till nearly 11 Oclock went to Court House & got home that night Finished striping in mountain field barn & then striped in new barn at home.

22nd cutting in new ground, Henry gone to mill 1 Bbl corn & 2 Logs - for Hhd Staves

23 Cutting in new ground all day —

24 Henry prizing Lugs Balance cutting cloudy & like for Rain —— Warm

25. trying to Finish Lug Hhd to day prize all Lugs from mountain field barn prize barn & prizing them in middle barn

1850 June 4th Plowing corn second time finishing Cotton & Potatoes Fed Alse & Ann gone to shop shop this morning cool nights

5 Started to Lynchg with waggon & while gone weeding Corn doing some little fencing & clearing Oats & wheat gone 3½ days got back Saturday 11 Oclock & went to meeting sold Hhd Tobacco for $8= had a good Trip weather cool & dry replanted branch this day & a little shower of rain in evening

10. cleared off cool & windy - Plowing corn & weeding, Henry Plowing Bottoms, gathered Turnip seed -

11 Plowing & weeding Bottoms on branch & also Plowing in Johns field nights very cool, at this time,-

12th Finished flat land Plowing & weeding to day & weeding in Johns field finished Plowing Once & nearly Twice,

13 Sent federick to mill this morning Plowing & weeding corn in John’s field & by Barn on left side nights very cool & weather dry & Clear

14th weeding Corn & Plowing left side Path & next to Orchard in the evening it rained a little & we planted Tobacco in new ground by Plant Beds etc light season

15 warm & a little cloudy this morning Planting Tobacco in fresh ground & new ground & expect to finish the new ground & nearly finish the second yrs land to day

16th started to Court stayed at Bro Stony all nightcloudy in evening

17. went to Court & was quite sick Got home by Sun set, cut off second yrs Land Hills weeding Corn & Plowing Killed Lamb & shoat etc etc etc.

1854 Friday 11th Rained a little last night & this morning it Thundered lightened & it rained more or less till 10 or 11 Oclock, ground wet, the prettiest rain we have had this Summer this evening after Dinner we went in the woods to Sawing & getting shingles - Mr Wyatt getting,- Sandy Cutting down another

12th Mr Wyatt getting shingles Fed & Henry sawing Sandy still Cutting shingles trees Jordan Plowing up Turnip Patch & going to Sew to day as soon as he gets ready

14 Rained Friday 11 & Saturday night finely, this morning we are fanning Out wheat Drying fruit worming Tobacco Plowing up Rye Lot etc Henry gone to E. G Lewis’s to Raise Barn — clear & Hot

15 Sent Fed to Farris Mill 12 Bus. wheat for flour, & got it all fine Rain this evening Henry getting Old shingles Balance gathered Queen apples & then went to work in Tobacco in corn field Mr Wyatt getting shingles in wood, Jordan & Sandy finished fallowing lot for Rye

16 Fed Toping Tobacco generally Henry getting shingles finished working Tobacco in Corn field working on Road this evening across mountain Nannie gone to Mrs Hunts — I went to Miss Sarah McCullocks Fallowing up stubble field owens clearingfor what

21 Augt went to Court. & to see old Bro Stone, who is very low Toping worming & succoring Tobacco

22 & finished that worming Do again Henry & Mr Wyatt getting shingles

23 Mr Wyatt went to Blanks to Raise Barn

24 - Harrowing in & Sewing Rye in lot By Granary, Sawing yesterday again
