1857 Augt 26th Raining this morning fine weather fine weather, cutting out shoes shelling Corn spining worming & succoring Tobacco at new ground —, Sent Arch & Lowry back to day Finished at new ground rained all evening

27th Rained all night & still continues this morning We are doing but little making Baskets etc turned a little cool, no weather to maintain wheat. Henry made 2 rakes yesterday,

28th Rained tremendous hard all day yesterday This morning cleared off & fine weather Henry making cart tongue etc etc Balance Balance working on road from here to Stony pint etc etc, expect to go to mill to day

29th worming & succoring Tobacco at Johns Branch toping at new ground Henry & Jordan Sandy & little Henry gone to Capt Gilberts after Cotton fine weather for every thing to grow,

30th Fair clear day for Sunday school

31st & Sept 1st Thrashed wheat & finished about 3 Oclock and top Tobacco & wormed & succored -

Sept 2 I went to see Miss Sarah McCullock Toping Tobacco over close worming & succoring

3rd Daubing barn & finishing Toping Tobacco in evening pulling fodder at stoney p[o]int & Halling up primings. — Mrs Hunt here went down to Pringles for her.

4. Daubing Barn at Crews halling up primings from new ground -Expect to start to Raise barn to day cloudy & like for Rain this morning got 3 or 4 Logs round Daubing weaving House & barn back of Garden cloudy & Raining a little my wife Jerry & Sallie is gone to Fannies Sallie starts to school 5th Rained Hard last night, firing primings working on Barn at mountain this morning clearing of[f] Sallie starts to school 7th Sept.

4th February 1858 Begun to Rain about 10 Oclock last night & sometime in the night began to Snow Horses runaway coming back from Millers Mill yesterday& this morning Snow 6 or 8 Inches Deep has & we are striping Tobacco, & putting snow in ice House,= to day= Trees very full of snow & Roads stoped up, cloudy & like for rain all day

5th Snowed & Rained last night a little & cloudy this morning, Striping Tobacco at new prize Barn, one she[e]p Died last night

6th Part cutting wood Henry & Jordan Halling wood from mountain, fresh ground Halled wood at Chumblys & 1 Load of wood to Mr Neals Found part of our Hogs over on the mountain next to Mr Pringles, but could not get them home Clear day not very cold, Snow melted but little yet

Febry 9th cutting up by overseers House Henry Compl= =aining. Pal. Sick Doct Thompson came to see Pal Pal. has very Soar Throat, - my Hogs gone again Jacob got ½ lb Cotton for Kitty to spin,Cutting & trying to get done by overseers house cleared off this morning & windy & cool, we hope Pal is a little better, Halling wood,

-10th. Cutting & finished by overseers House Halling wood to day & halled out Straw - Turned cold in evening my hogs gone again found some of themto day -

11th. Malling at mountain Spring alse burning Brush, nannie gone to Mrs Hunt to night very cold this morning, 14 Lambs to this time Henry has been complaining for 3 days & in house

12th Began to Snow this morning Sent Jordan & Buck to hall 2 Loadswood for Miss Neals Shelling corn making Bro[o]ms etc etc not very cold — Wind N,E,- nannie come back in the Snow this morning & Horse threw her & Jerry at the gate flat on the ground & did not hurt [water stain] Snowing yet late in evening Corn shelter broke to day & took 2 or 3 hours [water stain] at 2 oclock in evening about 4 Inches

1858 March 9th Shelling corn working at Shop Sandy & Buck went with me after the Hogs found them on Mountain the other side of Mr Pringles Barn Hester got scared & threw me off & Buck too on side of made Ironing Tablemountain hurt my face foot & & armLeg, but not seriously I hope, Sandy mending Lilas Shoe etc

10th March 1858 Snow melted but little yet weather moderated some, Fanning out our wheat to day. fixing plows etc expect to send to mill for meal,- clear this morning

In evening Sent a Load of chaff to Mr Neal Mr Chumbly making sleigh this evening finished our got about 50 Bushels. 50,

11th Halling up Oats to sow to day-, halling chaff Henry & overseer at work on sledge & sowing Plant Beds over this morning alse spining, Sent Buck to Fannie Fitzgeralds to hear from them, - snow melting very much, moderated very much,- last night This evening late Kit Starts to Lynchg My waggon & 3 Horses & 1 mule after Mrs colemans & my Bacon bot by Mr Hunt in Richmond,- to be divided between us

12th Henry Halling wood. Balance malling & piling wood, I went to Jacobs & Mr Hunts Jerry stayed night all little cripple Lamb Died yesterday

13th Finished malling & cutting fence [Row?] by mountain Spring to Join mountain field, I went to meeting to day at S S.

14th pretty day for meeting, Mr Plunket here

15th Making new ground fence Halling Rails there to Join fence to mountain

1870. May 10th Rained yesterday in evening we planted some corn peas snaps on Branch planted about ⅓ of Branch in Corn Hired Mary Smith Worked out Irish Potatoes & replanted some in Patch replanted rostingrostining year Patch Sam finished coltering new ground & fresh ground yesterday Keatts gets along very slow & always breaking something on out offed someway Planting simblings snaps etc yesterday

11th. 11 Rained all night & this morning quite cool. Striping Tobacco in new Barn at water loo & last we have hired Clabe & Cindy

12th Sent 13½ or 14 Bus wheat to Millers Mill for flour I went to Adkinson & Wards Shop got my Horse Shod & then went Millers Mill & Keatts gone home as he could not get the flour immediately Nat Picked up Rostin in new ground pt of the day & after 12 oclock they all pulled cockle out of wheat Keatts went to Coltering in new ground when he got home Rained this evening & Halled yesterday

13 Waggon Keatts & went to Cedar Hill after Blade fodder old Plows old Irons from wheels & Plank out of Old Granary my Hhd up there yet. Raining again to day & this evening too my Corn coming up very well this spring

14th Tolerable clear this morning ground too wet to Plow this morning I am going to Millers Mill Carry 2 turns Corn for Mr Whitehead & Sam & bring back My flour Bran etc Weather very cool for May Got all my flour meal etc for self & R Whitehead Sam Sold 1 Bbl flour to Mr Pringle

16th Hired Charles Lovelace 1 or 2 Months @ 40¢ a day Replanting Corn till 12 oclock
