Put my Jenny about 2 weeks ago to Fariss Jack - Halled up stack Oats & 1 Fodder or broke the fodder stack moved into Dining Room to eat to night, Salley gone to CH Plowed Peach Orchard Corn & sweet Potatoes weeding down new ground Tobacco Send claiborne down to aspen Grove for scythe & Cradle, my old sow has five pigs - clear pretty day

20th Finished weeding down Tobacco, Laying by corn next to Cap^t Whiteheads, put stack Fodder in stable Loft this morning Mrs Hunts returned from CH to day with Sallie & Allice, fair weather I went to aspen Grove found them cutting wheat 5 of sheep & Lambs Dead there Fair weather

21st Bob here this morning fixing scythes & going to begin to Cut wheat in Lot sent Charles to Post office,-

22nd I went to see Mr Chumney yesterday, Rained in evening & stoped us from cutting wheat to day choped out Peach Orchard Corn, & worked Garden Plowing corn next to Whiteheads Cut some wheat all thats ripe clear & very cool of nights at this time

23rd Choping & Plowing corn next to Capt Whiteheads very cool & clear this morning Bob been here since wednesday —

24 I went to Prayer meeting & then to Cap^t Gilberts to see the old Poeple

25th Finished cutting wheat to day here fixing spring making fence & Plowing & choping in corn next to whiteheads - I bot Fannies mare Fleetfoot If she is sound when I see her at my Plantation at $50.

1860 June 26th Finished Laying by corn next to Capt whiteheads & began to Plow Tobacco & Hilling up over there. I went to Thomas W andersons Sale. property sold only tolerable Capt Haley staid all night with us

27. June Jacob bot some Land at andersons sale am^t about $1200 & odd Dollars I am going his security for that Plowing Corn in Lot lower part & then the Cotton, clear drying weather

28th waggon from Bro H. place started to Lynchg Carried a Pat of butter to sell 2 Hh^d s of Tobacco, to bring back a 10 lb Coffee some wine for sacrament, some little whiskey ^{say 2 Galls} & Barrels for Cider 1 Gallon machine Oil & machine Iron Finished Plowing corn Second time & coltering in middle of the Row in upper Lot. Hilling up Cotton chopping in corn & trying all day to finish Henry & Ben commenced this morning to get Plates & Prize stump for prize Barn Engage with Mr Keen to take my machine & thrash the season, machine to be in good Order, I have ¼th that is 4 Bus. in every 100 thrashed & I gave him 1 Bushel in every 4 I get I give him one & he bears ¼th of all Damage & Expence the Season ^{all about the machine is nothing as Starkey wants_got}as long as he has the machine Mrs Farmers^{the machine but don't want to bear any expence} hope to get wood A J Lewis s & Mr Davenport ^{I wont let it go.} at Mrs Smiths Plantation, James McHay John R Shields, machine to start at aspen Grove,

29th Ben here this morning & Bob, Ben & Henry get p^s for prize Bob Plowing Tobacco Balance Hilling up next to whiteheads very Hot dry weather

24th Bob Sick & Mrs Hunt Complaining went down to aspen Grove Thrashing wheat sent 4 hands & my Horses. did not get done clem & charles at home Shrubing Corn Land Plowed up Turnip Patch fine weather

25th Finishing Thrashing wheat at aspen Grove Machine will go to Mrs Pannills to day Hired Ben to go with it @ $8 pr month Mr Wright came here to work on yard this morning – fine weather this morning I have got Lucy bot from Fannie & like her very well to ride

26th machine at Mrs Pannills Mr Wright here, Halling manure on Turnip Patch this morning choping & hilling up Tobacco Second time, next to Whiteheads,- Jerry went to see Isaac ^overbyyesterday

27th Finished Thrashing at Mrs Pannills & got to James McHaneys about 2 Oclock, had to feed Horses & fix got out one stack this day

27. Machine at James McHaneys getting out wheat Ben with it at home striping Tobacco Mr Wright here fixing & work on Railing. Mr Cothran met met me yesterday to help fix down machine - cloudy & like for Rain this morning machine went to John Shields from McHaney did not do any thing at all

28th last evening a fine shower of rain about 10 Oclock Mrs Coleman Sent for Nannie I went with her got back about 1 oclock quite unwell to day myself, gave Mrs Coleman a dose of Calomel, went to Chumneys this morning Sent to yates to have ^hischild coffin made

28th Sent to Store & got shroud for Chumbly child & sent it there machine put down at shields by Ben himself Bybee sick & did not go there at all Nannie gone to Mrs Colemans again to stay all night striping Tobacco, claiborne gone to help Frank Blanks raise Barn, Finished Thrashing wheat at shields & moved machine to Mr Hunts place this evening etc etc etc

29th I am complaining to day —

30. Toping Tobacco this morning in new ground. working out the p^s next to Cap^t Whiteheads fixing down machine at Mr Hunts place Charles Complaing last night gave him some medicine Mrs Hunt complaining - fine growing weather, tho ground not wet yet. Mr Wright Came to work on yard worked till night & taken sick in the night

31st Mr Wright Sick this morning & gone from working Tobacco down below new Barn machine at Mr Hunts place fine shower of Rain last night or evening Jacob P Graves here,

Augt 1st Halled Load Rails some wood & then Plowing & Hilling up Tobacco at near new ground. Set in Poles for straw. Mr Wright Came again this morning

2nd Thrashing wheat this morning & finished by Dinner here. Cothran & his hands help us & 2 Horses cart & steers, - Finished Plowing Our Tobacco in evening Hilling up etc.

3rd Hilling up new ground Tobacco Sewed Turnip Seed this morning White & Milley Brot. home by our folks yesterday from plantation.

1860 August 18. Worming & succoring Tobacco this morning Henry gone to Aspen Grove to get 10 Bushels wheat, 8 for flour 2 to eat for negroes carried 2 Bus. Corn, & 1 stack to make square edge Plank & sheeting all to yates, etc — Hot day —

19th we all went down to aspen Grove except Jerry who went to St Andrews to meeting

20. Jerry & myself went to Court. Our Folks choped up the Grass & covered plant Beds & then went to Toping worming & succoring Tobacco next to Whiteheads —

21st Toping worming & succoring Tobacco Mr Wright came here yesterday morning Monday to work on yard at it again to day

22nd Started waggon with 2 Hd^ds Tobacco from aspen Grove, Jerry gone with it gave him $6 - 2 Bushels corn in Ears & oats & fodder Mr Wright here again Mrs Hunt started from here this morning for Mr Browns & come back in evening, - Doct Thompson comes to Mr Hunts Plantation nearly every Ho[u]r about 10 days & to Bybees together Emma Died monday morning, 19th Augt.

23rd Toping Tobacco worming & succoring Tobacco & Beeting Cider Cloudy this morning Beeting Cider in evening Henry started with 2 Hd^ds ^Tobacco from aspen Grove wednesday evening,^{to Lynchg} Jery & Smith went with him Expences, Henry & my 2 Horses — Oats for 4 Horses & some fodder 2 Bus. corn in years from here Toll of Waggon 1.25 - p^d I sent for 1000 lb Peruvian Guano to W^m Miller 5 Sent waggon on Home by Henry
