March 1 Children started to school this day -Jeremy at Stony Point & Plowing -Planted Irish Potatoes, English Peas & onions etc etc began to prize Lugs

7 I went to Rice to meeting

8 Raining & we are stripping Tobacco weather changed & a good deal cooler In Jany 1845 made a bargain Mr Ja^s Murphy to Plaster my House & white wash it to be finished off as I want it for $45. But If I think myself this work is worth $47.50$ I am to give him that sum the two Dolls and fifty cents is at my discretion which sum of $45 I am to pay said Murphy March or april 1846 - this is our contract

25. Raining this morning began Just before day then Rfull for it. very much needed. Spining & shelling Corn Mr Myers here nearly finished working with hay yesterday both lots Stacked Our Oats yesterday light Crop

21 Rained another shower last evening Toped over our Tobacco yesterday & wormed it over Thinning corn last evening & this morning, sent for waggon at shop Plowing Turnip Patch & Part of Pea Patch on Branch - cloudy like^Rain for

8th Done Cutting Oats got up nearly all our wheat replanted Tobacco – went to Lynchg & sold all of our Tobacco, for tolerably prices only @$6Hogh^d sold for $5.50, choped in Corn this week pulled up flax, Hilled up Cotton & Greens & Pens

12 finer Rains Since last Thursday Friday & Sunday worked out Lot Tobacco yesterday & now choping in Corn & thining nearly done laying by with ploughs, my wife went to Mr Fitzgeralds & carried Mrs Neal, etc etc Very clear this morning & at little cool

19. went to meeting last Sunday & from there Me & Kate went on to CH, my wife & children went to Mrs Hunts & returned at night, & Monday evening went up to Mr Fitzgeralds & Come back a little we came from CH, fine Rain Monday about chalk Level Monday evening, we are very dry Our Folks work 3rd yrs Tobacco & new ground this I Guanoed Lot, done over once

1854 Sept 26. Peggy has been Sick nearly a week Doct Thompson Called Twice or 3 times to See her we are stacking Our Tops & firing tobacco & finished stacking this this evening -

27. Finished Roof of Barn nearly - Jordan halling wood, Balance worming & succoring till 12 Ocl then started to Cutting Lot & Guanoed Lot & new ground ground, nearly cured old prize Barn Tobacco, We are weaning Netty at this time, cloudy & like for Rain - Children Stop going to school this day —

1854 Oct 28 From 27th Sept till this day I went to Orange & Louisa Carr^d Kate Kate while I was gone they finished Our Tobacco & began to Sew wheat & we have nearly finished all except the Tobacco Lot by old prize barn, got up all of mountain field Corn & began & got up 6 Loads from Stony pint, this day it rained nearly all day. we are shelling Corn firing Tobacco etc etc - Turned a little cooler — Mr Crews bro^t me 87 lbs fodder instead of any Oats which was due me last Spring

6 Novr Shucking Corn & shoemaking,- Housing Corn etc - Abram little Henry claiborne & Lowry had their Caps this day. Clementina Kitty Lila Sandy Claiborne & Lowry had Blankets this day quite Cool & Rained Saturday nearly all day David Miller very Sick my Leg sore I did not got to Sunday School yesterday —

11th We have been Halling up corn for Several days this week between Ditches in fresh field, have not near got down yet, began to Rain last night Rained all night & continues this morning very wet & warm, finished making our Shoes to day
