1849 Dec. 15th Halled up 1 stack of Blade fodder this day cloudy yet

Dec 22nd- the Past week went to mill waggon & cart, with Cotton to Pack & Log to saw meal & flour Halled wood fixed stables striped Tobacco pt of 1 day covered Turnip Patch Hall out straw Cut in new ground nearly done little growth Killed Our Hogs wednesday or Thursday Rained one day nearly all day ——

23rd cloudy & likely for Rain or snow children gone to St. Andrews, —

24 Halling leaves & wood all day turned cold eveningin

25. Very cold this morning & clear ——— Sold Lady Jane to A W Worsham for $17.50. pr Bond Due in 12 mos from this day — — Sometime about 10th or15th Dec Inst & bot a Horse colt of John Danl Coleman for $20. payable in 12 months from Date of Bond. -

30 Christmas has been cold & cloudy Yesterday cutting little growth in new ground & Halling wood clouded up & in the evening it began to Hail & Hailed & snowed 4 DeepInches

31 cleared off this morning snow 4 Inches Deep, striping Tobacco — striped 63 sticks Lugs 36 sticks short & 11 good in middle Barn

1850 Jany 1st clear this morning & cold. striping Tobacco in prize Barn

2nd Halled wood & washed & shelled corn cloudy & snowed a little -

3rd still cloudy, weather moderate. striping Tobacco in prize Barn

1851 April 22nd Halling wood cart & waggon cleaning up fresh ground on mountain no frost to hurt any thing, this morning

23. Hilling in new ground from 10 Oclock till night, Sent to Mill this morning 1 ½ Bbls Corn, Hilling in new ground Henry going to Sew Oats where we intended for flax & then Break some Land which has been too wet for Corn, overseer & myself making draw Bars – – – weather more moderate & no rain yet,

24th went to Mrs McCullocks Set up Tobacco Hdds this day 2 Hdds Hilling coltering finished sewing oats on Branch where we intended to put flax Harrowing Corn Set up One Tobacco Hhd for ourselves

25 Coltering Hilling Harrowing corn, prizing Our Second rate Tobacco - fine weather

26th Harrowing Corn coltering Hillling new ground, setting up Bars,- manured Plant Beds weather very dry & warm – about this time

27th went to meeting at St. Andrews clear fine day coltering & Hilling in new ground, Henry

29th Finished Harrowing mountain field coltering & Hilling in new ground

30 Planted 2 squares greens in our garden Prizing our Second rate Tobacco – a Fine Rain this evening taking down Tobacco at Mrs McC, & Packing etc etc

May 1st Prizing Tobacco fencing shelling Corn etc Shoemaking etc — very cook, fencing & Halling Rails more than ½ the day –

2. Fixing cotton & Pea ground, coltering & Hilling in new ground weather very cool Planting Cotton Peas watermellons cucumber simbling seed etc,- etc - mrs mcCullocks

3rd Coltering & Hilling in new ground, went to Henry Coltering Second years new ground — at mountain field

1851 June 18th- finished Plowing over corn second time here & began to Lay by mountain field this evening

19th Laying by mountain field, weeding down Tobacco in new ground & expect to finished that to day & Lots is also done, & then for fresh ground Very Cool & very dry weather, Cool ever since Monday

20th Finished laying by mountain field & next fresh ground, finished weeding Tobacco this 21st day June 1851 laying by with Plows in Lot by Granary Broke new waggon this morning first time we ever hitched the Horses to it & we sent it back to Mr Lewis Yates, to make a new coupling Pole & finish it. etc.

22nd cloudy & Turned warm my wife gone to St Andrews

23rd A little shower Rain here this night -

24th Replanted a little Tobacco smartly missing none at Mrs McCullocks, cutting wheat expect to finish to day here & at Mrs McCullocks

25 too, Sorry crop tho grain good - weather extremely dry & now Hot - Henry complaining with his rash & Plowing here by House in corn —

26th Sent Poplar Log for waggon & Pine Log for bodies & told Henry to bring back waggon frames for Wyatts & Oak Log to be sawed 4½ Inches by 4½ for Harrows etc etc - 2 Bags Corn Sent This morning 2 Bushels in each Beg & 1 Bag at mill to be brotHome clear & warm cleaning Out treading Yard & choping in Corn overseer making cart gate etc

28 Sent another Pine Log to Saw mill got no Plank brot back 2 Bags meal weather clear Hot & Dry Hilling up Corn & Plowing groundfresh

29, in evening a little shower about

30 Halling up wheat to day also at Mrs McC Hester got Fistula & had it 2 or 3 weeks Logan hip shot & Celam swayed inaged [injured?] some how other clear & Dry Choping over fresh ground corn about this time

1853 March 17th Raining this morning & we are Striping Tobacco. Rained nearly all day

1853 18th Mar. Piling manure Halling up fodder from I went to Mrs McCullocks to day fresh ground & put up stackfodder at House Cutting Hhd Heading etc I went to Mrs McC

19th Rolled Logs & in evening bushed in that was sewed Oats Fannie White been here this week fine weather Sallie gone with her home —

20 cloudy & like for Rain my wife to gone to Harmony Grove meeting to day etc

21st I went to Court to settled land matter with Saml Fitzgerald & he failed to have the Deed ready the Land was survey by Jameson Corbin County Sur =veyor FWF! is dissatisfied because it don't hold out & Posponed making the Deed to us till he could have it calculated over by sombody else before I change Mr Corbin will have to tell me he has made an error & show me where & how etc etc Our folds striped Tobacco yesterday in new ground Barn — cloudy & like for rain morning this

22 Burning Log Heaps Halling wood & Plowing. Sook one of Our cows Died last night expect to sew Oats to day ——————

23rd Sewed Oats. Burning Log Heaps cutting wood cool & windy this day —

24th Sewing Oats, malling Rails & new ground wood in clear & fair weather - put Bells on cows

25. Halling rails out new ground round Corn field etc Lot - & get wood out of new ground shrubing corn field fine weather

26. Halled up Oats to tread to Sew & sewed Some Plowed for Oats Rained in evening manured Plant Beds at home & on the mountain Cut Hoop Poles

27 clear fine morning I am going to Strait Stone balance to St. Andrews

1860 August 18. Worming & succoring Tobacco this morning Henry gone to Aspen Grove to get 10 Bushels wheat, 8 for flour 2 to eat for negroes carried 2 Bus. Corn, & 1 stack to make square edge Plank & sheeting all to yates, etc — Hot day —

19th we all went down to aspen Grove except Jerry who went to St Andrews to meeting

20. Jerry & myself went to Court. Our Folks choped up the Grass & covered plant Beds & then went to Toping worming & succoring Tobacco next to Whiteheads

21st Toping worming & succoring Tobacco Mr Wright came here yesterday morning Monday to work on yard at it again to day

22nd Started waggon with 2 Hdds Tobacco from aspen Grove, Jerry gone with it gave him $6 - 2 Bushels corn in Ears & oats & fodder Mr Wright here again Mrs Hunt started from here this morning for Mr Browns & come back in evening, - Doct Thompson comes to Mr Hunts Plantation nearly every Ho[u]r about 10 days & to Bybees together Emma Died monday morning, 19th Augt.

23rd Toping Tobacco worming & succoring Tobacco & Beeting Cider Cloudy this morning Beeting Cider in evening Henry started with 2 Hdds Tobacco from aspen Grove wednesday evening,to Lynchg Jery & Smith went with him Expences, Henry & my 2 Horses — Oats for 4 Horses & some fodder 2 Bus. corn in years from here Toll of Waggon 1.25 - pd I sent for 1000 lb Peruvian Guano to Wm Miller 5 Sent waggon on Home by Henry
