1850 Novr 19th Halling up Corn yesterday & to day I have Just got from CH likely for Rain -

24th we have been getting up & Housing corn this week & not done getting where there was no wheat sewed Rained 2 days this week — John Coleman worked here this week making 1 week more one month in all Lila & Malissa & Clem has Blankets this winter Raining this evening

Novr 25. Give to Mr Fitzgerald & Fanny White Tom Perry we are Putting up our Greens & Halling wood etc clear fine day —— Capt Fitzgerald got fountain out of Jail in Montgomery CH

30 Finished our corn this morning Halling wood Fed Shoemaking Rained hard last night made about 120 or 130 Barrels in all warm weather about this time — Jordan gone to mill Expect to sendthis evening Henry

1st Decemr. 1850 clear in morning cloudy in evening I went to Mrs Colemans & Mrs Hunts —

==2nd Mr Owen came here to help about Houseoverseer Mr Tucker came to shingle it cloudy all day

3rd Both here shingling overseers House Henry Jointing shingles cloudy all day – Federick & alse Halling up stalks 2 days Balance Fanning out wheat & Buck wheat made 123 Bus. good wheat & 17 Bus. screan [tolled?] to be sent to Capt Gilberts mill is 6½ Bushels good wheat including Mr Neals, & nearly 1 Bus screan,

7th It has been raining & quite cool nearly all this week Thursday night Friday & Friday night it rained very hard indeed still cloudy & Raining Owen left yesterday evening — Began to strip Tobacco in middle Barn making up Farm Pen & shelters to day Building overseers House chimney about this time

1851 Novr 25 Given Our negroes their shoes this morning after the Snow – Henry Clay still very Lame from the Trip to Lynchg We have strip Tobacco 2 days in prize Barn Grainar here to Instruct my wife how to Cut Costs

28th Cutting at fresh ground Fed Shoemaking 2 pr shoes made 2 sanall Raining a little quite cool

29 Sewing wheat got from Mr Fitzgerald cleared off Henry gone to mill carried 7½ Bushels Corn

Decr 3rd Given to the following negroes Blankets Henry 1 Bed spor Blanket Malissa a Blanket alse & Federick Jordan one also - & clementine,-one a ps clear & cold

5th Decr Fanned Out wheat Squared Logs for stable & Halled wood

8th Election this day for Governor Liet Gov & attorney Genl. Senator for County & members to Legislature under new constitution, fair pretty day. Fanned Out my wheat & at Mrs McCullocks & about to settle for toll etc at both places

9 Raised my Stable & went to Mrs McC Mr Atkisson moved to McC to attend to her business from from 2nd Decr to X for $5. – Hewing down my stable etc etc

11th Raised Top to Ice House Halled some wood & Killed our Hogs this morning Fine weather, went to Mrs Hunts for Lucy Ann

12th Sent 4½ Bushels Toll wheat of machine made 1851 to Mr. Joshua Hubbard Halled up Some Oats this morningpr of stack making new stable Door & etc

14 Cutting Halling & fencing owen set up our Tobacco Hhd to day very cold & clear

17 Owen moved Halling wood & made up fence at little new ground. Very cold John D moved from here this day

1852 Oct 11th Firing our Tobacco very little as its all nearly been cured ——

15th Gathered about 5 Barrels corn Snap Beans Sawing Shingle Blocks - went to Court Housing Tobacco, not much frost & finished monday while I was at Court.

17th Carried 2 Stacks to Yates saw millweek last for Hhd staves heading —

20th Carrd to 2 to Millers 1 to be sawed squared Edged & 1 thro for sheathing Fine weather fannie White here

21 Began to Plow for wheat. Henry gone to Mill 2 Bus. new corn the first we have had On Sunday 17th Oct 1852 Doct white Came here to see clemintines Hand & cut it on the back & in Palm of the hand, also —I went to Court monday morning

22 Doct. White came again to see clementines Hand & cut off one of her Fingers, — — Harrowing in Rye cleaning out & drainingflat Plowing for wheat, Fanning out Wheat to sew.

26. we have been Sewing wheat ever since 22nd Cutting up Tobacco stubble. Lila in house 1 day Dr White here to day making 3 times to see clemshand Mrs smiths Sale, bot 1 Cow cut Reel Carving & forkKnife 1 Hhd 2 Vinegar Bbls 1 Box old Irons - etc -

28 29 & 30th we have finished sewing wheat out at Fresh ground. Sewed in Lot & out at fresh ground Bus 16½ Cut & stacking corn in fresh ground next to orchard & began to Plow there when it commenced Raining went to Mill a day or Two ago 5 Bus new corn

31st Oct Striping Tobacco at Overseers house none of our Hogs up this morning

Novr 1st Sawing shingles Blocks John Neal here sawing- Halling up corn Plowing for wheat cloudy & warm like for Rain,- Jno Tucker & A Faris getting shingles

1852 Novr 2nd Presidential Election this day Very Blustering in the evening & a Thunder cloud came up & Rained a little — we are Housing some corn in morning halling wood Sewed about 2 Bus. wheat next to orchard & bushed it. Plowing for cutt down stalks below the House – Hogs failedup this morning to come began to get up balance of succors for negroes

4th Halled one Log to Yates for him, better one than he sawed for us – he owes a little to boot yesterday we gathered succors began to shoe make & sewing wheat next to orchard — this morning we finished sewing wheat next to orchard Fine weather this morning we are digging Our Sweet Potatoes - Dug about ½ say 50 or 60 Bus.

5th this morning like for Rain & we are our Potatoesnot digging making another Hog Pen, cutting down Corn by Middle Barn to sew wheat - all our Hogsup

6th Fanning Out wheat spining Federick gone to Mill 4 Bus. Corn 2½ wheat for our flour for Jno Tucker& 2½ Do Raining fine weather for wheats that is sewed We have sewed 22 or 23 Bus, & 1½ Bus Rice,

7th Sunday cloudy & moderate weather

8th went to saw mill with another Log to yates choped around stumps etc -

9th Dug Balance of our Potatoes etc

10 Fixing for Lynchg to start tomorrowmorning

22nd, went to Lynchg & to Court. Finished Sewing wheat; pulling away Greens & nearly done shoemaking - began to Grub & Cut in new ground Given Lila Kitty & Lowry a Blanket a ps also Clem, Sandy & Malissa a Blanket a ps

23rd cleared off very pretty morning last night cold & Rainy we are grubing cutting & Hallingto day wood I am going to Mrs Hunts to see Mrs Coleman

1st May 1853 cloudy & like for Rain -

2nd Finished Sewing Oats On Branch this day Sewed 4 Bushels Sent Henry to Riceville for Doct Thompson for alse who got back from Mrs Hunts very sick sickly times Croping in new ground Hilling & Henry prizing Tobacco —

6 May- Finished Hilling newthis weekground got back from Lynchg Saturday sold Lugs for about $150 or little upwards Rained one night after I left for Lynchg

7 - done nothing after we got here

9th Took down nearly all of Our short Tobacco Fed sick. Cate got measles fine weather Sunday it rained,

10 Planed our Garden in Greens scattering manure & Plowing Lot & fresh ground Planed Irish Potatoes last Saturday

12 Plowing & Hilling in 3rd years ground Packing 2nd RateTobacco in Hhd Henry set up 3 Tobacco Hhds this day fine Rain day before yesterday - Coltering up 3rd yrs land for Tobacco, – clem & Cate Sick ever since Sunday last, & Clem monday Hilling at Second yrs ground & Plowing

13 Laying of secondyrs Land coltering in seconds yrs above House Replanting Corn this day etc etc put in stack fodder by stable in cutting house

14th Layed of 3rd yrs Land for Tobacco & Replanting corn in Johns’ field coltering in 2nd yrs Land

16 went to Court. Hollidy Clear pretty day
