1851 Novr 1st Finished Bushing wheat in fresh field this evening. Rained a little this morning

2nd Novr. Yesterday sent to Faris s Mill flour 7½ Bus. wheat for myself & 5 Bus. Corn & 1 Bus. wheat for Henry & for overseer 1½ Bus Corn & 2½ Bus. wheat, got back in the night Weather clear & warm wheat seems to be Coming well etc etc

5th Finishing getting up & shucking corn from Stony pint only got 6 or 7 Bbls good corn from there Killed Bull this morning weighed 99 lbs to the quarter let Hiram Wyatt have 1 quarter of it cloudy & cool & Rain a little to day – finished sewing wheat & Rye at Mrs McCullocks now getting up Corn, put up my Hogs this morning

18th Went to Lynchg last week for Mrs McCullock Sold wheat etc, we were doing but little while I was gone but shoemaking, as it Rained Went to Court On Monday my horse very much worsted Archer Worsham began chimny monday morning Halling up Corn at Mrs McCullocks still cloudy like for Rain

21st cleared off still about new House chimny cleaning up & burning Brush on Branch, quite Cool Finished chimney to new cabbin

22nd & a clear day & very cool —

24th began to fix up cow shelters & Halled & some woodRails

25th Rained allday & we striped Tobacco in prize Barn Snowed the first time this fall & the Rain melted the most of it Freesed towards night & a very disagreeable day & night, quite cool

26 Striped Tobacco again in prize Barn Halled wood, Archibald Worsham done up Back & Hearth cleared off & a pretty day I went to Mrs McCullocks they are cutting & getting logs for overseers House there.

1851 Novr 25 Given Our negroes their shoes this morning after the Snow – Henry Clay still very Lame from the Trip to Lynchg We have strip Tobacco 2 days in prize Barn Grainar here to Instruct my wife how to Cut Costs

28th Cutting at fresh ground Fed Shoemaking 2 pr shoes made 2 sanall Raining a little quite cool

29 Sewing wheat got from Mr Fitzgerald cleared off Henry gone to mill carried 7½ Bushels Corn

Decr 3rd Given to the following negroes Blankets Henry 1 Bed spor Blanket Malissa a Blanket alse & Federick Jordan one also - & clementine,-one a ps clear & cold

5th Decr Fanned Out wheat Squared Logs for stable & Halled wood

8th Election this day for Governor Liet Gov & attorney Genl. Senator for County & members to Legislature under new constitution, fair pretty day. Fanned Out my wheat & at Mrs McCullocks & about to settle for toll etc at both places

9 Raised my Stable & went to Mrs McC Mr Atkisson moved to McC to attend to her business from from 2nd Decr to X for $5. – Hewing down my stable etc etc

11th Raised Top to Ice House Halled some wood & Killed our Hogs this morning Fine weather, went to Mrs Hunts for Lucy Ann

12th Sent 4½ Bushels Toll wheat of machine made 1851 to Mr. Joshua Hubbard Halled up Some Oats this morningpr of stack making new stable Door & etc

14 Cutting Halling & fencing owen set up our Tobacco Hhd to day very cold & clear

17 Owen moved Halling wood & made up fence at little new ground. Very cold John D moved from here this day

1851 Oct. 13th Sent Henry to Colo Smiths plantation to Exchange 6 Bushels wheat to sew, in fresh ground Tobacco Land on mountain, We are this evening Hanging last Cutting there & Plowing up Tobacco Hills to begin to sew tomorrow Clear this evening & windy this morning was very like for Rain, still warm —

15th Finished mountain field fresh ground Tobacco Land Digging Irish Potatoes

16th day of the month, sent to Mr Grastys to Raisebarn Clear & moderate weather

18. Finished Housing Tobacco, Dug our Sweet & Irish Potatoes yesterday & day before also sent 2 Hands to majr Grastys to Raise Barn Killed a little Beef this morning — cutting down Corn going to sew wheat If it does not Rain Henry Halling wood & Land

19 A Fine Rain Rain last evening & night fine weather, - Sold Jane yesterday morning to Mrs Mary Moseley of Charlotte for $600 fine weather about this time

20. Plowing Lotts for wheat cutting Corn cleaning Out stables firing Tobacco Halling leaves etc

21 & 22 Sewed 2 Tobacco Lotts in wheat one at prize barn & one by new Barn, sewing in fresh field to day 22nd firing Tobacco in 2 Barns Sewed about 24 Bushels at Mrs McCullocks to this day – – no rain, cleared of

30 went to CH as school Com. Aff[airs] Rain this day not quite done seeding wheat - cleared off stayed all night Mrs McC

31 Finished seeding wheat in fresh field Sewed now between 25 & 30 Bus. weather still moderate & arm Bot at Robt McCullocks Sale 1 Calf $1 & 1 chest 25¢ — Seeding rye at old Mrs McCullocks Jeremiah Pallison Fitzgerald son of F.WF. Born 20 Oct 1851 Turn backward as thats Blank

1852 Jany 3rd I went to Mrs McCullocks - halling wood & Cutting began to Plow this week rain 2 Plows 2 days Henry Riving boards one day Striped Tobacco at mountain Barn, I have to Mrs Colemans winding up her business 2 or 3 days. I Bot a saw & 12 Pegs at Mrs Colemans Sale, also several other things 1 oat stack-

4th Jany my wife & Cate gone to Green field to meeting, tolerable cool day tho fair —

7th The 5th at night it snowed 2 or 3 Inches Deep Rained in evening before snow yesterday we striped Out mountain field Barn Tobacco. This morning quite cold. we have not finished our Ice House yet Cutting in new ground this morning all hands Lila Plowed a little monday Jordan & Jacob went to mill 1 Turn wheat & 1 Corn - etc — yesterday about 12 oclock Monroes Peter was Caught as I understand by David Neal

10th Snowed again this morning about 3 or 4 Inches Deep & there has been about 4 snows to this day, - we did not do much Out yesterday Shelled corn Jordan Brot from mill 2 turns meal Lila spining Henry & Fed making Brooms after morning, still cloudy & like for Rain snowor 11th Decr. Still cold & like for snow

12th clear & cold. Sent 4 Hides to Mr Yates for Mr Jefferson & to Tan 1852 - Cutting in new ground. —

13th very coldclear cutting in new ground alse Breaking & swingling flax 2 Ewes has Lambs Bot of Mrs Coleman at her Sale 1 Sow & 12 pigs & 5 Bbls corn the 31st Decr 1851

14 my wife & Kate Jacob & Jerry gone to Mrs Hunts weather more moderate, Halling wood Chaff & Straw cutting in new ground alse Swingling flax —

1852 March 17th Great deal of our fencing I am afraid is down Some Is I have seen very disagreeable day indeed —

18. Halled up Stack Oats & fodder from mountain field & 2 Loads Leaves etc - striping Tobacco in new ground Barn, quite cool etc

19th. Plowing & malling till 12 oclock & then Henry bushing in Oats my my wife & Cate went to Doct Walkups picked up roots & Halled some in second years ground Turned very cold

20th Snowed last night & very cold this morning Henry Halled wood till 12 oclock then Fed Henry finishes sewing Oats. balance Cutting wood etc etc etc ——

22nd Henry gone to Mr Neals to Hall rails Fed malling alse etc Hilling - Lila Plowing Jordan gone to mill Fine weather, indeed — Finished Sewing Oats on Saturday last. Fannie W. F. came yesterday - weatherfordput there by cook in Jail

23. manuring plant Beds Henry gone to Capt. Gilberts Mill this morning 12 Bus. Grain 2 Barrels Corn & 2 Bushels wheat — Fed malling Sent 2 Plows McC to Yates shop

25 Yesterday we laid the worm of new ground fence put up part of the fence Henry halled some Rails & him & Fed malling - to day

25. Sewed Plaster malling fencing & Lila plowing by Brick yard a Beautifull day fine weather — Fannie White here & came down last Sunday

27th my wife Fannie W & Cate Jerry & Sallie all went to Mrs Hunt. Thunder cloud came up in evening & they all failed to get home We rolled Logs this day on account the Rain did not quite get done

28 cloudy & cool this morning
