1852 april 22nd Sent Henry to Millers Mill with 3 Barrels Corn Halling out manure this morning & fencing around new ground – Weather cleared off & yet cool Halling out manure this morning – etc etc — Rode Hester to mount airy & the Mill I returned about 12 oclock o[r] 1 oclock & before sun down she had her first colt. very good looking indeed for her age & size –

23rd Halled out manure waggon & cart & all Hands Sent alse & Jordan to shop this mornig A Fine day weather moderate ———

24 Halling out manure Lila & Henry both Sick Doct Thompson has been 2 times to see Henry & Doct^WalkupTwice to see Lila, who miscarried. & Henry I hardly Know ^{the matter}what is

25th both yet sick & a beautifull day Did not quite get Done Halling out manure

26. Moderate day a little cloudy Hilling & Plowing in new ground ^{second yrs ground}or Fed Halling wood Henry & Lila yet in house tho both better, Rained to day —— Went to Mrs Hunt to day to see her

27th Took down some short Tobacco in prize Barn & packed it down this morning – John Neal came here to work this morning at 2/3 pr day If he does not stay longer than a week or Ten days. If he stays a month I to pay him 2/- pr day — Planting corn on left Side of Path by middle barn in field John D Hunt & John D Coleman started to Georgia about 2 weeks ago his family has been sick since he left here weather Cool this morning, wind from NW-

28th Planting corn Mr James P Lewis Sent Bransom 2 days to Lay off corn Rows for us

29th Planting corn below Malissas House

30 Planted all our bottom Land & began to Plant at 12 oclock in fresh ground

1852 June 15th Plowing & weeding Corn. Dewing & suning Tobacco —— Finished Shearing Our Sheep this day Weeding part of Our Fresh ground Tobacco

17th Finished weeding corn this morning Finished prizing Hh^d Second quality Tobacco –

18 went to Mr W^m Tuckers & in the evening come up a fine Rain we replanted our Tobacco all over saturday fine time for it Weather warm & growing, Mrs smith very ^sick smith

19th Raining a little to day - Thursday we Harrowed the flat Land again, began to weed Tobacco in fresh ground on ^{2 hands}Thursday

21st Expect to start my waggon to Lynchg in the morning Hh^d seconds Began a little to day to Lay buy [by] corn Planted Peas & sewed Same weeding fresh ground Tobacco Sent 7 Bushels Corn to Capt Gilberts mill to day & could not get it & have to send again

22nd my waggon started to Lynchg this morning with our Hh^d of Tobacco & some for Mrs Lewis Brans. weeding down fresh ground Tobacco, I went to Mrs McCullocks this day —

24th my waggon got back in 3 days weeding down Tobacco in Lot on Branch & lot & replanted over this day I hope for the last time this year

25. Laying buy corn in fresh ground next to orchard. 3 plows, Lila plowing lot Tobacco cutting Rye, wednesday & to day, clear & cool Expect to Begin to Cut Lot wheat to day – planted cucumbers for Pickling & watermellons^etc

26th Cutting wheat in Lot back Garden & by prize Barn, clear & cool nights, weeding down Tobacco in Lots - & bushing new ground —

1st july 1982 weeding lot Tobacco Laying by corn on Branch & next to orchard. seasonable weather
