20th Snowed last night & very cold this morning Henry Halled wood till 12 oclock then Fed Henry finishes sewing Oats. balance Cutting wood etc etc etc ——

22nd Henry gone to Mr Neals to Hall rails Fed malling alse etc Hilling - Lila Plowing Jordan gone to mill Fine weather, indeed — Finished Sewing Oats on Saturday last. Fannie W. F. came yesterday - weatherford^{put there by cook} in Jail

23. manuring plant Beds Henry gone to Capt. Gilberts Mill this morning 12 Bus. Grain 2 Barrels Corn & 2 Bushels wheat — Fed malling Sent 2 Plows McC to Yates shop —

25 Yesterday we laid the worm of new ground fence put up part of the fence Henry halled some Rails & him & Fed malling - to day

25. Sewed Plaster malling fencing & Lila plowing by Brick yard a Beautifull day fine weather — Fannie White here & came down last Sunday

27th my wife Fannie W & Cate Jerry & Sallie all went to Mrs Hunt. Thunder cloud came up in evening & they all failed to get home We rolled Logs this day on account the Rain did not quite get done

Augt 7 wed little young Corn - Hilled up new ground Tobacco, raised Cutting House Shrubed & Piled up rocks in fresh ground owens clearing for Wheat. Shrubed this side of Branch for Corn to day we are Halling Logs to Yates Mill expect to Hall 8 there to day Toping & worming over Tobacco, - Sent to Yates Shop 4 H H 1 Colter 1 Frisen for old & had 1 shoe put on H. Clay that had not ^beenput on more than 4 days Sent to Yates to Mill nearly 1 Bbl corn — Mrs Hunt sent me 2½ Bus Corn to Yates mill, Sent Fed a Cow to Mrs Hunts for John Hunt, which I was to give him for a steer —

11 Finished new cutting House yesterday all But Steps that we have done this morn

1859 Decr 12th Mr Fox came again to Dig well & his Horse, came about 12 Oclock - Mr Chumney went to store & staid till Evening I went to Fannies to see Arch, chumney at work on stables Henry & claiborne with Fox Digging well, weather moderated some, Henry bro^t from Mill 1 turn wheat Meal, for us & chumneys Turn Corn meal = Bot of Mr J Tucker 1565 shingles bro^t by Mr Blanks paid him to day for them, - -

14¹³ Come to water in well this morning & began to wall in about 11 Oclock, & got it walled about 10 feet. chumney fixed rafters to day & Halled 2 Loads Sand in evening & took till night, pretty cool day — Mr Fox has been here one day & a half to night

14th Working on well to day all hands Since morning, got a little over ½ wallked Mr Chumney Halled up Some Oats p^s Stack this morning & then framed bottom sills etc, I went to aspen Grove & little after the Cross Cut Saw, — Still cloudy & like for falling weather. Cothran has burnt 3 plant Bed, one of which next to Mr Lewis one road we have part of it. = they are plowing down there

15. Finished walling in well, to night Halling Rocks all day got to the Top I halled 8 Loads myself before dinner, & 4 or 5 afterwards –

16th working on well Layed down Stills, Hewed Corner Post. Plates etc chumny been nearly all day getting the Pieces, Layed the floor this evening have done nothing to stable this week, but my Horse to Nannie to day sent Phil to Yates Shop shod before, bot 536 Shingles of John Tucker pd him 2.15 cents for them

17th desperate morning doing nothing raining & freezing wind blowing hard etc etc.

1860 Jany 24th Burnt sewed fenced in & covered 1 Plant Bed on Road & fixed for another, - William A Shields here helping us burn to day

25th Burnt Sewed fenced in & covered Plant Bed on Road, put Guano on both, etc - Mr Shields helped us again to day & left

26th went to Mr Pannills to day to get destraining warrant v^s H. Wyatt for J D Hunts Est went to aspen Grove, in evening. claiborne malling sent to Post office this morning, Halling leaves 5 Loads for Stables Barn, etc Halled up 1 Stack Oats this evening - I am fixing to start to Danville in the morning If its not^raining

27th & 28. I went to Danville bro^t Sallie home fine weather, Plowing & mauling next to Whiteheads, Beding for Corn

29 Stayed at home D. R Hunt come after ^Fannie

30th Halled wood mauling etc piling Brush

31st Halling Rails mauling next to Whitehead began to Rain a little. I went to old place & Hodnetts to day

Feby 1st Rained & this morning gro -und covered with snow, about 1 or 2 Inches Deep, shelling Corn spining Sent Henry to Mill 2½ Bus. wheat for chop 2½ D^o for mean & 2½ Bushels Corn for meal & 1 at mill to bring home, I am going to Sarah McCullocks —

February 2nd Sent Jerry Smith to Yates shop & Mill Carr^d 2 Bus. wheat for beat flour Big Broad axe to fix by Friday & little Broad to do to day & bring home, etc - very cold this morning 10 Degrees below zero,- clear weather

3rd very cold I went to aspen Grove mauling & Burning Brush next to Cap^t Whiteheads

1860 Feby 4 quite cold I went to Yates shop & to Court there had the case of W^m Yates decided plantif JDH Est cast from Lewis yates evidence that Mr Hunt gave W Yates the Debt, - pd 30/- Cost. Halling wood Cutting & mauling in new ground below House not quite so cold -

6th Halling leaves to day claiborne sawing shingles for well, Rained & Snowed yesterday all night Rained & this morning a ^little Send down 1 Gobler & 1 Turkey Hen to aspen Grove this morning

7th mauling to day clem Burning Brush took Down some Tobacco this morning in new Barn, I had viewers here to day to see about changing Road - Henry at work on well all day

8th Striping tobacco all day Snowed about 2 Inches Deep Rained & Hailed, bad day -

9th clear this morning & we will strip Tobacco till we get done what we have down not very cold - Sent Henry to Yates with a Log for Plank get Cutting machine & Cart wheels. Balance Cutting for wood in new ground Sent 35 lbs Iron to Yates to pay some I borrowed last fall got 7 plank wheels & Cutting Knives

10th Cutting & mauling, in new ground clem shrubing in new ground; Mr Geo. Robey worked here ^{to day} 2 days. making 2 days in all
