July 22nd 1859 J D Hunts Estate Dr To JW Graves 4½ Butter @ 15¢ 1 lb Butter for Do 15¢ charged

Commencing 11th March 1856. This morning I Fed my Dogs as usual Caesar I reckon got Chocked & Dyed in 2 minutes or 4 minutes, we are treading out Oats this morning fencing about Tobacco Tobacco lot. Very like for Snow Soon this morning Very cold indeed windy & tremendous yesterday — Jordan Halling Rails around Corn field fence & lot at House yesterday & to day – — wrote to Danl Brown Indiana in this month etc etc

14 Plowing for corn till yesterday began to sew Oats Plowing Tobacco Lot by Garden Henry & Jacob Finishing Garden, Jordan halled Rails 2 days this week & finished malling wood in new ground, alse cleaning out Stable, Kitty Clem etc cleaning up on Branch Light full of Snow the 13th Thursday in evening

14th A beautifull day indeed clear & moderate

15th Went to meeting at Strait Stone fine day -

16th Beautiful day. pretty Cool & dry at this time Plowing up & sewing Oats On branch malling wood & Halling out new ground took up Irish Potatoes this day set out Turnips for seed about 100 in Turnip Patch last week,- clem alse & Kitty Piling wood in new ground,-

17th Raining to day Sewing some Oats Shoe mending fencing sent Henry to store, sent 1/6 for Paint & allum

20 Finished fencing Sewing Oats by Malissa House windy - - Fannie White here this evening Jerry & George Edd finished nailing on old Paling [water stain]day - Striping to day & yesterday [smudge][water stain] Rain, sent Mrs Moseleys will to [water stain] Geo. - Sawed about 40 [water stain] etc

1859 Augt 17th Bob here this morning 3 days this week, began to cover barn this morning balance cutting down Pines - cloudy & like for Rain this morning - Capt Pallison Boxley Died 7th day of this month Augt 1859 at Mr Poindexters where he has lived about 2 years Recd letter from Cousin Jos C Boxley stating this -

18th went to meeting Mr Chumbly & Henry covering Tobacco House balance cutting down Pines very dry & Cool of nights,-

19th Shingling House Tobacco Barn little Henry & Jerry Smith Cutting Pines Henry went to meeting House to day Rhoda nor Lila did not want to go. claiborne & clem went Wednesday & they all went from Plantation

20 Sent Henry & claiborne to help Raise Barn at Mr Hunts place, chummy & little Henry at work on Barn finished covering & at work on Bonnetts of Barn clem spining

21. Fannie W. & Billie Jones stayed here last night & to day Mrs clements & Johns children here Chip & George Coleman also. Still dry &cool

22nd chumney going to look for a place to live at lent him a Horse Henry toping Tobacco Balance worming & succorring fresh ground Bob came here this morning -

2 [smudge]23 Bob here again to day cutting pines Henry & overseer at work on Barn Balance cutting pine Mr Adams Stanley & Mr Lewis came but they could not get a reference, did not do any thing Nannie Mrs Hunt & Sallie started to Mrs Colemans stop at Johns place, Jerry Came home from Hargraves this 23rd Augt 1859, because

1871 Sept 4th Clear pretty morning pulling fodder I went to shop but did not get my Horse shod, nor any thing else come back by Jacobs but did not get any body to pull fodder tomorrow

5. Parthena here to day pulling fodder Clear pretty morning for work —

6th. Finished working Lot withHoes Scye Mar shall helped & tyed up fodder I went to shop old place & Mr Creaseys Mr Geo Coleman & his mother Mattie & Allice here this morning like for rain

7th Sent to Mill 1 Barrel corn for meal Sam & Martin Sent too - worming succoring Tobacco Scye & Parthena digging Irish Potatoes this morning Cloudy & like for rain

8 Worming Toping succoring Tobacco Stacking Fodder to night, Scye Marshall work On Garden etc to day for me Sam & his gang pulling fodder worming & succoring Tobacco quite cool to day, Pied Cow had a Cow calf about 1st 1st Sept my Spotted Sow has 8 pretty Pigs, White Sow only got 3 Piggs quite Cool nights

9th. Worming Succoring & Toping Tobacco Sam too till evening & then he tyes up fodder, Nobody at meeting hardly to day

10th. good many at Meeting clear day

11th. Martin & Robert toping worming & succoring Tobacco. Sam pulling fodder clear weather

12th. Finishing toping worming & succoring lot Sent Sam to Yates Mill with 2 Bushels wheat for me flour & 2 Bushels for himself & Carried Some Corn for Martin & a long hart Log. Cloudy this morning. Let Mattie D Hunt have pr his note this day $150.00. Cloudy Weather & damp

13th. Pulling fodder worming & succoring Toba in Morning, tying - up Fodder last evening
