Jacob started to Meadsville to to School, Weather dry & Hot, we laid by our Corn about this time Plowing & Hilling up Our Tobacco Henry has been sick nearly a week & several of Our family – nearly got every thing clean about this time

say 26th Fine Rain yesterday. I was at Mrs McC. settling withem them went to Court House last week & got my accts settled by Comm Banks & it took nearly 12 Hours Halled up Our Oats this week, turn Out very well 5 stacks at mountain & nearly 5 at stony pint worked out our Branch Tobacco Potatoes Cotton etc etc this week fine weather about this time,

Plowing & Hilling up Tobacco at stony pint Killed Lamb etc etc at this time

28th Fine shower Rain this evening Finished Hilling up Tobacco at Stony pint Hilling up fresh ground & lot & Plowing it,– fine weather Mrs wooding etc etc here to day

30 Henry & Jordan Hewing sills for Corn house balance hilling up Lot by stable, Sandy Plowed at Mr Neals ps up this day cleaned out Ice house hot dry weather –

31– Hilling up our new ground Henry gone to Lynchg for Capt Stephen Clement I find myself he gives me $8– for the hhds If it weighs over 1200 lbs grows he is to pay 3/9 a hundred four all over, carried a parcel for one of capt clements negroes to pay 3/9 pr 100 lbs

5 Two or Three Showers of Rain the Past week & a fine Rain to day, choped in Corn got timbers for Corn house etc top our Tobacco yesterday – Henry got back Thursday

1857 April 9th Mr Wyatt at work on upper floor. I helped him yesterday finished lattice & to day finished upper floor all he can do now & about 5 oclock he left. Mr Tucker has altered our shoats & cut 1 Calf to day —

10th Raining this morning Shelling corn mending Shoes Burning Log Heaps & will Plow at 12 Oclock. Halling Logs My wife & Jerry gone to Fannies yesterday morning - cool rain, etc

11th Plowing with 3 Horses this morning Sent Sandy to Millers Mill 8 Bus. Corn 4 Bushels wheat for flour & let Henry have ½ Bushel,= Balance our hands fencing where fence was burnt at mountain field & shrubing there Jordan & Buck Halled up stack Oats & for Coltering at new ground, cool weather & every thing backward nearly all fruit Dead Went to Capt Clement Funeral Masonic Parade

12th Went to Sunday School Just commenced this day Jerry Sick, cloudy Cool day

13th Snowing this morning Easter Monday Sallie at home, Lila complaining Commenced snowing between light & sun rise. 1 Oclock in Evening it has been snowing all day and at it yet snow in places where it did not melt as fast as it falls is 3 or 4 Inches Deep.

14th Plowing in Evening, coltering in second years ground & finished shrubing corn Land & commenced Hilling in second years ground

15th Plowing for corn Hilling. tremendous windy to day & cold - Turned out Hhd Tobacco

16 Coltering in new ground this week carried Hhd Tobacco to Riceville 1058 lbs @ $12 malling till 12 Oclock [water stain]

1857 Dec. 6 Raining nearly all this day – – 7 Cleared off & a Beautiful Morning – Taking Down new prize Barn & Fixing Shelters etc etc Sent Jerry after Kate & sallie, Jacob went to Fannies last Saturday — Sent little Henry to Millers Mill & P. office Sallie Came Home to day Fenced in Plant Bed in slash burnt last week fine day etc 1 young Lamb at this time

8th Mr John D Hunt here sent to Fannies to shuck Corn, Cutting & Halling Logs to Ice House Grubbing in new ground

9th Jacob P. went to Fannies yesterday to see about her corn shucking - Grubbing shelling corn this morning Sent to Mill Yates 4 or 5 Bushels Corn for meal, went to Sale myself etc - Put up Big Sow & she has got out 2 or 3 times. & we have tried her again

10th Jerry gone to Mr Plunkets for Jno D Hunt Jordan & claborne has not come back from Fanies been there ever Since day before yesterday Grubbing stayed 2 Days -& Hewing sills for Stables - etc etc I Bot Capt Clements House tract of Land yesterday at $7.05at 12 & 18 mos Credit pr acre weather very warm, Rained last night & night before nearly all night this morning little Cooler,- Grubing in new ground

11th Stayed this day till evening went to Mr. Tuckers for Hodnet & wife. Grubbing & sent to Mill

12th Sent 2 Turns Corn & 1 wheat to Yates yesterday - Grubbing & cutting getting sills & Cutting Logs for Stable & Smiths shop Sent my cart & Jordan & little Henry to clements to House corn Stayed all day
