21st Wednesday at Mr Thomas Fitzgeralds & also at Mr Whittles had to take the woods to get to the Court House got there about 1 Oclock Stayed there about 2 & then returned the same night getting home about 8 Oclock Such mountains of snow I never saw in my life neither has the oldest inhabitants, dredfull time & when I got home snowing a little, Henry & Sallie complaining a little, sore throat & Lowry has Pain in his back etc etc

22nd Bitter cold day & windy. attempted to hall wood & only got 4 Loads waggon & Cart & got the way cleared & little broke dreadful weather, making Baskets feeding & making fires, Fed making Fannies Jerrys shoes Henry took Some Pills to day —

23rd Friday clem sick. gave him some Pills Halled wood to day waggon & cart halled 8 Loads I went down to Strait Stone about new county nobody met, the road is impassable have to take the woods in several places met Mr Lewis Boy going to Millers Mill he had to go back home & take his grain on his horse & went to Yates Mill. he was going to Millers in a slide with 2 horses, such times never was Known in this part of the country. Such heaps of snow in the roads wherever There is a Lane Yates was cutting away Ice about his mill till 10 or 11 Oclock to day before he could start his mill & this morning the Thermometer was 10 degrees below zero, yesterday all day the coldest day I ever saw

4th February 1858 Begun to Rain about 10 Oclock last night & sometime in the night began to Snow Horses runaway coming back from Millers Mill yesterday& this morning Snow 6 or 8 Inches Deep has & we are striping Tobacco, & putting snow in ice House,= to day= Trees very full of snow & Roads stoped up, cloudy & like for rain all day

5th Snowed & Rained last night a little & cloudy this morning, Striping Tobacco at new prize Barn, one she[e]p Died last night

6th Part cutting wood Henry & Jordan Halling wood from mountain, fresh ground Halled wood at Chumblys & 1 Load of wood to Mr Neals Found part of our Hogs over on the mountain next to Mr Pringles, but could not get them home Clear day not very cold, Snow melted but little yet

Febry 9th cutting up by overseers House Henry Compl= =aining. Pal. Sick Doct Thompson came to see Pal Pal. has very Soar Throat, - my Hogs gone again Jacob got ½ lb Cotton for Kitty to spin,Cutting & trying to get done by overseers house cleared off this morning & windy & cool, we hope Pal is a little better, Halling wood,

-10th. Cutting & finished by overseers House Halling wood to day & halled out Straw - Turned cold in evening my hogs gone again found some of themto day -

11th. Malling at mountain Spring alse burning Brush, nannie gone to Mrs Hunt to night very cold this morning, 14 Lambs to this time Henry has been complaining for 3 days & in house

12th Began to Snow this morning Sent Jordan & Buck to hall 2 Loadswood for Miss Neals Shelling corn making Bro[o]ms etc etc not very cold — Wind N,E,- nannie come back in the Snow this morning & Horse threw her & Jerry at the gate flat on the ground & did not hurt [water stain] Snowing yet late in evening Corn shelter broke to day & took 2 or 3 hours [water stain] at 2 oclock in evening about 4 Inches

1860 Decr 23rd I went to Strait Stone Prayer Meeting very white or Black met, day very good for time of the year

24th Cutting wood for Plant Bed, Halling fire wood in the evening & Halled up 1 stack fodder to use in stable & 1 Load Shucks,

25th Snowed a little last night, alice sick with sore throat, went to old place give some Lard for them there & sent them a dram & this morning gave them some cider & got some for Mrs Hunt, etc etc fine day —

26th I went to Mrs Colemans to see Alice pd Mrs Coleman Balance of money got from CH. for her went to Welden Holders. Mr Hubbards & Mrs Hunts Place did not rent it to Waller, me & Mr Hubbard viewed the Land of Mrs Hunts he wants to buy some 40. or 50 acres which I agreed he might have at $12 pr acre - then I came home fine day

27 - went to chalk Level to hiring - cold day & fair —

28. went to Mount Airy no hiring cold fair day —— Mr Chumney my Overseer moved here to day Henry move him & I am to give him 3/-

29th. Halling Leaves Cutting & malled at Plant Bed, - to burn. it & at 12 Oclock we will get wood Hired Danl R Hunts boy John to Holder again $27½ for next year, Snowing again to night. Rented to Susan Roark the place where Roby lived this year of JD Hunts Est. for $15.00for 1861

30 Snowed last night a little & to day snowed & Rained nearly all day in fact raining allthe time

31st Snowed in the night & snowing yet 9 or 10 Oclock Snow about 4 or 5 Inches Deep —
