1857 Augt 26th Raining this morning fine weather fine weather, cutting out shoes shelling Corn spining worming & succoring Tobacco at new ground —, Sent Arch & Lowry back to day Finished at new ground rained all evening

27th Rained all night & still continues this morning We are doing but little making Baskets etc turned a little cool, no weather to maintain wheat. Henry made 2 rakes yesterday,

28th Rained tremendous hard all day yesterday This morning cleared off & fine weather Henry making cart tongue etc etc Balance Balance working on road from here to Stony pint etc etc, expect to go to mill to day

29th worming & succoring Tobacco at Johns Branch toping at new ground Henry & Jordan Sandy & little Henry gone to Capt Gilberts after Cotton fine weather for every thing to grow,

30th Fair clear day for Sunday school

31st & Sept 1st Thrashed wheat & finished about 3 Oclock and top Tobacco & wormed & succored -

Sept 2 I went to see Miss Sarah McCullock Toping Tobacco over close worming & succoring

3rd Daubing barn & finishing Toping Tobacco in evening pulling fodder at stoney p[o]int & Halling up primings. — Mrs Hunt here went down to Pringles for her.

4. Daubing Barn at Crews halling up primings from new ground -Expect to start to Raise barn to day cloudy & like for Rain this morning got 3 or 4 Logs round Daubing weaving House & barn back of Garden cloudy & Raining a little my wife Jerry & Sallie is gone to Fannies Sallie starts to school 5th Rained Hard last night, firing primings working on Barn at mountain this morning clearing of[f] Sallie starts to school 7th Sept.

1858 Janry 2nd, Cutting in new ground Henry come home this evening with overseer went to Mill, 2 Bags Corn Halled wood & Leaves in evening - cleaned out stables

3rd Fed went to Jacobs, Jacob came here

4th Went to Mrs McHaneys Sale burning Plant Bed above House did not quite finish

5 Raining this morning a little & they finished burning the Plant Bed Sewed all burnt 4th & sewed the One burnt 1st Decembr, & put Hog Hair on it

6th Striping Tobacco somewhat injured in new prize Barn to high, cleared off I am going to Miss Sarah J McmcCullocks = 5 Lambs & 19 Pigs to this day - - Finished new prize Barn & took some in old prize Barn to day - cleared off pretty

7 went to Mrs Hunts & sent to Mrs McHaney after Our things bot there — Daubed overseers Finished plant Bed & sewed it ¬

8 Cutting & Halling wood to day ¬

9th Grinding up Cobs Corn etc etc & made, Homminy etc. I went to meeting, Mr Plunket is Pastor at Strait Stone this year 1858. Jacob came down & got 15 or 20 lbs Guano for Plant Beds Burnt & finished up there this day - moderate weather, Jacob has began to Plow, etc - let have 4 quarts meal. ¬

11th I went to Divide Mrs McHanys Land Sent 2 Bags corn to Mill & brot Cart from Mrs McHaneys & left them at Yates & brot home 3 Bags meal for us & 1 for Overseer

13 I went to Mrs McHanys to Divide Land no commissioners Came yesterday, striped out jerrys Crop Tobacco & took down old prize barn & striped to [water stain] halled out straw
