1857 Sept 5th Tying up Blade fodder this evening & Turning primings and Tying up dry ones - Fed gone to Fannies

7th tying up primings all day & sent to Saw mill 1 Log 10 Long ¾ thick for floor

8th Sent to Saw Mill 1 Log 16 for Corn house 2 Turns Corn Sent 4½ Bushels for meal Hitched Rose yesterday to waggon Done very well Halling Logs to mill I went to Comptons yesterday to appraise property, - Pulling fodder to day nearly done 1 Blade stack — Sent 2½ Bushels wheat for flour & another Log for Corn House floor — Pulling fodder owens clearing & upper pt next to stoney pint,- cool & windy —

9th Sent 2 Logs to Day for my House floor Hitched Netty. worming & succoring Tobacco to day John’s branch & Crews clear fine weather Only very cool. Fannie here yesterday — worming & succoring at John’s branch & next to Crews

10th worming & succoring Lot & toping this morning & then pulling fodder by fresh ground Henry setting in Poles to stack fodder — I expect to go to Riceville to day — going to Hobble Fillmore this morning Fannie has sent Malissa home & her children except Catharine, and I send clem up there & Raymond she is to cloth them & pay four Dollars pr month as long as they stay, my wood rolls is brot Home by Lowry sent Fannie 1 Large Jug vinegar Pulling Fodder to day Tying up fodder this evening - —clear fine weather.

1857 Blankets given out this 20th Novr 1857 FederickNovr 20 2, alse 1, Lila 1, little Henry 1 - Jordan 1, Malissa 1 for her children,= Hats or Caps Given out, 1 to Sandy 1 to Jerry Smith, & 1 to Abraham, - This has been a very Cold day & Shucked but very little Corn,- I went to Riceville but got no money — ==

21st Housing Corn & shucking finished shoe making clear cold day not quite as cold as yesterday.

22nd Sunday about such a day as yesterday weather moderate some Fannie stayed here last night went home this morning

23rd commenced raining to day & stoped us from shucking I went for Mr Pigg to Hillfield very disagreeable in evening - making Jerrys shoes etc making brooms Baskets etc —

24th Housing & shucking corn to day all day Cold day- did not get done Housing what was in pen, —

25. Housing this morning & then Halling out of field, sent Robin to shop Housed in all up to this time 125 or 130 Barrels including all we have used now Halling up again between Branches in fresh field & next to overseers house still very Cold windy weather

26 Halling up corn 15 Loads —

27 Killed Beef Red, shucking Corn & putting away shucks, Halled, Let abram Crews have cart & steers ½ day making 1 whole day for which he is to help me 2 days himself fine clear weather quite cold —— Jacob P. came home from Fannies on Thursday 16th Novr 1957
