11th Oct Housing Tobacco firing etc -

15 I went to Court firing Tobacco Cutting down & Plowing for wheat —

16th. delivered property to day not done

17. gathering apples Halled furniture from Mr Hunts place, shrubing Halling wood

18 Halling wood Halled up our old Blade fodder & 1 stack Oats & 1 Load leaves Malled up some wood & I went to aspen Grove, cloudy nearly all Capt clements Daughter Buried here this evening

19th Raining this morning & very cold got out Peas firing Tobacco & making Baskets & Jobing about got our apples in Granary yesterday or day before Diging [H] in Barn to put up apples

20. Raining again putting up Irish Potatoes & apples to day in cellar & Barn. Sent to Mill this morning checking stables Let Buck Jerry Smith Lila Jordan & Lowry have Soles Buck & Lowry Caps firing Tobacco

21st stayed at home all day nannie went to Mrs Colemans, tolerable day

22. Began to sew wheat Digging Sweet Potatoes etc I went to see Edd Mr Bybee has put up Sweet Potatoe seed & also the Estate of J D Hunt If they Keep I am to have seed from Mr Bybee We ran 3 Plows to day charley Plows well

16th novr Sent my Horse to L Yates Shop Card 1 shoe & he found one nailed them on behind had Mrs Hunts here to day & to night I have stilled to day 1 Doubling 25 GallsBrandy for Est. toll to come out Mr Wyatt finished 1 side of office & began the other, likely for rain—

17th Raining this morning & we are doing but little till after dinner, then we housed all the corn we shucked. about 40 Barrels & 27 before. making over 65 Barrels housed shattered corn to get up yet had Mrs Hunts Horses to hall up about 7 Loads Henry got back this evening Tobacco and sold did not get any time nor my wifes Bonnet; - got bale cotton for Cothran & 1 Bar Iron for Est. of J.D. Hunt -

18 Went to Court. sold Mr Hunts children carriage his gold watch & silver - watch sent waggon Home to aspen Grove Halled wood, Claiborne gone to aspen Grove in Sandys place, Sandy is at Mr Hunts place shoemaking, yet. etc —

19th Stilled to day made for Est 2.25 Gallons toll to come out. Halled up Corn to day, Mrs Hunt & Bob went to her place yesterday Cleaned up round office this morning Mr Wyatt finished it yesterday

20th Halled up fresh ground corn & part of the stalks I went to Doct. J C. Thompson Funeral & Burial at Riceville Mrs Ward Mary Adams & Mrs Coleman all came here about 12 oclock cool day —

21. Finished Shucking Corn & halling stalks

22nd Killed Beef at aspen Grove & shucking Corn

22nd Finished shucking corn what we had up, etc

23 Let Mr Burroughs have my hides again. he got six hides one Rat Eaten his Rect only for 5. error, I Know he got six because we lost 3, 2 milch cows & my Bull & Killed 3 Beefs. this I know Housing corn & stacks, Raining this morning a little, — we finished Housing corn all that halled up, & done all but Peach Orchard. Henry making loft to stable, put Plank in Corn House & Granary.

24th Cleared off very cold & windy last night to day cutting & malling wood & Halling fixed stable Loft, etc, I went to Mrs Colemans Mrs Hunt & Bob here, nearly every day this week, give out shoes to negroes

25. went to meeting at Strait Stone cold day not many persons

26th Halled up our Corn & finished shucking & Housing - this evening & Halled up stalks from fresh ground & sewed wheat looks very like for falling weather, my Boar spotted that was at JD Hunts plantation is now gone from there & I dont know where he is - I told Bob to get some Corn & fodder there to feed his Horses as Mr Bybee is complaining & I found him in Bed,

27 Shucking corn finished, Halled wood & Cut this day all day nearly

28th Raining nearly all day & we are striping Tobacco in Barn on Road -

29. Sent Smith to Chalk Level, Henry gone to Faris Mill 8 Bushels wheat & 1 Log to be sawed into sheeting & to get flooring Plank Bot at Colo Dickinsons sale

29th Novr Fine morning, Set out Marmosa Tree in Yard this morning - Cutting in new ground next to Plant Bed -

30. Halling wood cutting wood, I am stilling

Decr. 1st. went after Mrs Hunts Corn, got Barrels, bot Oats 3000 lbs Tom Templeton for Mrs Hunt @ 3/- pr Hundred, settled with them about Tobacco made 1859 for Mrs Hunt give out my negroes meat at aspen Grove 21 lbs Beef - they are not quite done Shucking Corn,- going to measure next Tuesday - cool weather snowed to day fast for awhile - Windy -

2nd Stayed at home read to negroes -

3rd give Mr Bybee 1.25 for tollage to Lynchg with wheat & Memo for Tomb stones for Mr & Mrs Hunts Graves cost $15. a ps $30 to get 10 Galls Black Mo. 5 for me & 5 for Est. to bring my wifes Bonnet, & 6 & give him Mr B $15. to get 8 Bottles Acitus morpia & 1 lb Calcined magnesia - Bills etc Put up my Hogs here 13 Killed Two & got 2 House House making 17 in all here to Kill got 12 at aspen Grove in pen 39 Pigs there & 4 sows, Cutt & marked here 7 Large Pigs & 9 Small ones making 16. 3 Sows out 1 Boar & 1 not got up yet has been at Mr Hunts place Bot of Mr James P Lewis 3 ps Bacon midlings 1 for myself weighing 12½ lb 2 lb for John D Hunts Est weighing 27 lbs, not pd for this 4th Decr 1860 but will pay shortly,- got the Bacon in Oct. 18 3 4 Halling rails here to day & Cutting - I went to as aspen Grove measuring corn measured up to day 50 Bbls in corn House &

Decr 17. 1860 Corn Oats etc gone to day after corn Mr Hubbards Milly had a cow calf last night all my Shoats up 2 Boars, gone Bot 236 lbs Pork of Allen Scruggs @ $8½ pr 100 lbs.

18th Went down to aspen Grove, to see Hester sick all day to day & left her sick, but I thought about night she was a little easier, made arrangements to Kill 11 Hogs down there, leave one, making arrangements to Kill 2 Here, & may be some I may buy tomorrow, Halled & Cut & Malled wood to day,- cloudy & like for falling weather, to night,-

19th. Killed our 2 Piggs here to day & Bot Two out of drove for us & Killed them, Henry went to mill this morning to Whiteheads carrd 1 Turn Corn 1 Turn wheat for negroes here & carried 1 Bus. wheat for Henry & Malissa, & 1 Bushel wheat for Ben promised him for faithful work with machine in fall when hired to me he has gone down to aspen grove to Kill 11 Hogs there & get overseer have his but since night it has set in to raining & we may not Kill there in morning Jerry came here this morning & let him have some sole leather for his shoes Hester has got well I heard this morning bot of Mr Williams my 2 hogs & 8 for Mr Hunts plantation,-

20th. I went to Plantation & fixed every thing there & 21st I went to CH.- Cut & Halled wood cleaned out Hog pen & in evening halled leaves

22 Returned from CH. Halling & cutting wood Bob here to day - -
