To the Mayor and City Council of the City of Seattle Greeting: Whereas there is now being printed and circulated in this city an certain paper known and designated as the Sunday Breeze Mercury, and also a certain other paper known and designated as the Sunday Sun: and Whereas, these papers do smirch the character of our citizens and corrupt the moral of our youth; and Whereas certain of our sister cities, deeming such publications unfit to be read by their citizens, have prohibited their circulation within the corporate limits of such cities; Therefore, we, the undrsigned, most respectfully petition your Honorable Sir and Body to take such action as will effectulally stop the publication and distribution of said papers in our own fair city. Petition of Fred Prosch & others for Street lights along Fourth Street from Pine Street to Blanchard Street read and referred to Street Light Commitee. Petition of Seattle Electric Light Co for permission to dump coal through a chute in the Sidewalk at Corner of Seneca and Front Streets in wet weather only. read and Granted. Communication for Seattle Cable Road and Water Company accepting provisions of Ordinance No 870 read and ordered filed. Petition of James Parke in regard to the Mill Street grade read and referred to the City Attorney. Petition of Moses Keezer in regard to the Mill Street grade read and referred to the City Attorney. Petition of H Butler andothers for opening a Street sixty (60) wide along the west side of Lake Union from the north boundry line of the City to T D Hinckley's land, read and referred to the Street Comittee. Petition of JB Metcalfe & others for a franchise for a cable road on Mill & Jackson Streets read and on motion Laid on the table to be taken up when Ordinances are reached.
