Be it remembered that on this the 21st day of May 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following officers are present towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Geo F Frye, W A Harrington, Alfred Snyder, E F Sox, W G Latimer, W V Rinehart & S D Crockett Therupon the following proceedings are had: And now the Council proceeds with the examination and equalization of the Assessment Roll for the year 1885 Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll towit: Stetson & Post reduced on Mortgage $1240. John Collins reduced on Mortgage $120. Joseph W Phillips reduced on Mortgage $420. Chas Benson reduced on Mortgage $200. Lucinda M Ballard reduced on Mortgage $2000. Geo W Crane reduced on mortgage $420. D T Denny on certain lands reduced to $50. per acre Sarah B Yesler on certain lands reduced to $50. per acre Thos Burke reduced on Mortgage $49550. Henrietta M Haller reduced on Mortgage $1500. G O Haller reduced on Mortgage $680. Est of James Osborne Dec'd reduced on Mortgage $1920. R H Denny reduced on Mortgage $870.

318 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 21 1887 Licenses Referred Robert Coons Plat of DM Crams addition to the City of Seattle is referred to the City Surveyor. Assessment roll of assessment district created by Ordinance #815 for the expense of extending Madison St and to pay for property condemned is submitted by the Clerk and on motion accepted and approved. Bids for removing tin from roof of City Hall and replacing same are opened and read as follows: Bid of John Leck To replace same with best J C Charcoal Tin Old s\Style re-dipped, also 12 Iron anchors as called for $350. J C Best tin for $300. From Young Bros To retin roof and put in 12 iron anchors in a good and workman like manner $330. On motion the bid of John Leck for putting in the 12 iron anchors, and retinning the roof with J C Old Style redipped painted on the underside for $350.00 be accepted and City Attorney directed to draw the necessary contract. Ordered that E Calvert be awarded the contract for painting the roof of the City Hall when put on for the amount of his bid, to wit: the sum of $32.00 On motion the following Park Commissioners were elected W E Boone for 3 years. C M Shufe for 2 years - G O Haller for 1 year.

583 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 23 1888 to confer with the "Arbor Association" in the matter of setting out shade trees along the streets the Mayor appoints F J Burns, U R Niesz and Jos Green The Council now proceeds with the examination and equalization of the asessment roll of 1888 Ordered that the improvements of Lot 6 Block 5 Judkin's Addn assessed to C P Stone be stricken from the roll. Ordered that the improvements on Lot 6 Block 4 Bell and Denny's plat assessed to Jno R Kinnear be reduced from $800 to $450. Ordered that G M Haller be reduced on improvements on Lot 7 Blk 8 Boren & Denny's addn from 3100 to $2000. Ordered that the assessment of G M Haller onLots in Adelia addn be referred to a committee of one The Mayor appoints Mr Jos Green. Ordered that the improvements on Block 100 Terry's 2nd Addn assessed to G O Haller be reduced from $8000 to $4000. Reconsidered. zordered that mr Fred Gasch be reduced on improvements on Union Block situated on a portion Lot 6 Block M Terry's 3rd addn from $10000 to $8000. Ordered hat the matter of Bank Assessments be referred to Mr U R Niesz Ordered that Watson C Squires assessments on Blocks 1 and 13 Bell & Denny's addn be reduced on half(1/2) and Lots 1-2-3 & 4 in each block be stricken from the roll being water lots.
