85 Columbia March 12th 1894 The Town council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following council men present McKay, Calder, Groat & Willacy The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved The Clerk quarterly report read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. The report of the County Treasurer for taxes collected during the month of February read and on motin placed on file. A list of delinquint water rent due the Town was read and on motion the Treasurer was instructed to hand the same over to the Marshall wil the instruction for him to notify the consumers that unless thy same was paid by the 15th of the month, the water would be turned off. Bill from E L Hepler for lumber furnished the Town $19.07 and on instruction a warrant was ordered drawn on payment of same. A Bill from J M Bemiss for repairing harnesses for F E Scott $33.85 read and on motion laid on the table to by approval by Mr Scott. A communication was read protesting against issueing a warrant in favor of H H A Hastings for his quarterly salary and on motion the same was ordered laid on the table until next meeting and Mr HAstings to be notified of the above action Motion made and carried that warrnty be drawn in for the Clerk and Marshall for their quarterly salary. On motion the attorney instructed to draw up an ordinance regulating the running and operating of Electric Cars in the Town Motion made and carried to adjourn to meet Monday April 9th at 8 o'clock pm Approved April 9th 1894 B R Shaw clerk C P Hutchinson mayor

87 Columbia May 7th 1894 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following councilmen present, McKay, Groat and Calder, The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The Park committee report progress A petition was presented and read asking the council pass an ordinance prohibiting stock running at large in the limits of the town. The same was discussed and on motion the same was laid on the table idefinitely. The Engineer's report on the grading of Angeline Street by Contractor Scott and on motion the same was accepted and warrants ordered drawn for payment of same less 30% on the work done under the new contract. The engineer's report on the side walk contrace of Hughler & Co read and on motion the same was accepted and warrants ordered drawn for the payment of same in full. Bill from A H Hepler for 1 day's work helping the Engineer on Angeline Street $2.50 read and on motion ordered paid also Bill from Ray & Co for 1 day's work at same $2.50 paid. Bill from C L Woodman for $23.75 for engineer work on Angeline St Bill from E L Hepler for $9.00 work on water works for months of March, April & May read and on motion warrant ordered drawn for payment of same. Motion made and carried to lay all bills filed against the Town for work on Angeline St grade on the table until next month. Motion made and carried to instruct Treasurer Schade to secure additional bondsmen. 241 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 5 1887 From Street Commissioner, Referred to Street com. and returned approved and ordered filed. Report of City Justice H F Jones, referred to Finance Com. Report of City Justice N Soderberg, referred to Judiciary Com. Report of Custodian of Powder House, for May, June and July, read and ordered filed. Committee Reports received. From Street Committee as follows: "we your committee to whom was referred the application of R Scott for permission to relay the sidewalk on Fourth Street corner of Pine Street, beg leave t o report: That there is now a good sidewalk on the premises in question and recommend that Mr Scott be permitted to re-lay said walk under the supervision of the City Surveyor, and that he have the cost of said walk deducted from the assessment on said lot Lot 2 Block 22 A A Denny's Addn Your committee would further recommend that a new sidewalk be built on the South side of Pine Street running east from Third Street 120 feet to the alley and that an assessment district be formed from which to defray the expense of the Same" On motion the report is approved and adopted and the City Atty directed to draw an ordinance providing for such assessment district. 248 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 8 1887 Be it remembered that on this 8th day of August 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present : Acting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen J M Frink, J Green, I W SakeT W Lake, Robt Moran, U R Neisz, R Russell & C F Reitze and W R Forrest Clerk, the following proceedings are had, to wit : Applications for License Refund Henry S Carlton & B.Kurz Comittee Reports Read. From Judiciary Committee on the petition of W. C. Hill for settlement by compromise of grade and other taxes recommending that a compromise be made. Report adopted and the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the City Atty. Authorized to make a settlement with said Hill. From same committee on petition of W A Scott for damages occasioned by the change of the Mill Street grade, reporting that the committee is unable to see that Mr Scott has been injured and therefore reject his petition. Adapted. From Committee on License & Revenue stating that W McMasters has filed a new fund in the peace of the one from which W H Cowie withdrew.
