1867 July 2 Plowed Sweet Patch worked […] & ps corn by fodder stack finished throwing dirt from Corn then Harrowing & weeding Planted 2 or 3 little places at this time Robt Dalton working with Hoes Tommy plowing - clear & very Hot at this time

3 I went to mount airy & Capt Fitzgeralds weeding Corn in lot on spring & replanting

4 Ralph came here this morning to pay a days work he owes me weeding corn stacks wheat in Lot 125 or 30, & in fresh ground 85 stacks 3 hands wed on branch about 4000 hills & replanted missing hills & set some

5 Finished weeding corn on Branch & replanting Sam helped them finished weeding this morning began to plow in fresh ground Tobacco yesterday & Plowing & weeding it up to day Tommy Still Plowing in Guanoed field & ought to have finished yesterday dont do much clear & Hot to day, fine for Killing Grass Nannie Sallie & Richard went up Fannie Moses this morning sent the money for Ed Board I Recd [?] her by Richard, Capt Fitzgerald here this morning & out of the $30 he paid me for her I pd Fannies land Tax 1866 & Sent her balance of money $24 Sent she is to pay 42¢ then that will be settled

6th. Tommy did not finish ed Plowing Guanoed field & I stoped him, We are cleaning out granary this morning halling up Lot wheat & weeding fresh ground Tobacco grass most ruined tho Tobacco there fine morning to Kill Grass

7 I went to Sunday School & from there to Jacobs & Fannies their youngest children sick & also Richard little Boy clear & Hot

8 Going to Mill 2 turns 5 Bushels for us & 2½ Bus. for Dalton to 1 Bus for SamYates Mill I got the meal Clear & Hot

9th. Rained in the night last night not done fresh ground yet, Robert Dalton Set to Plowing Corn in Lot about 9 Oclock Tommy finished Guanoed field this morning Chopping out Garden to day Sam Siding Corn

10. Finished weeding & Plowing fresh ground Tobacco & Plowed & weeding on Branch Plowing Sorghum & sugar Corn above stack

11th Finished throwing out Corn rows in Lot by Robt Dalton Sam & Robt Plowing Plow Peas & Corn Joining Peas Broom Corn etc etc Sews Peas by Pea Patch above & along hill side Ditch on upper Side Sewed 4 or 5 rows. finished weeding down our Tobacco & Mr Dalton & Tommy choping Lot Corn Sam & Robt Dalton Siding & Plowing in Guanoed field, began after 12 Oclock to day, I went up Cedar Hill Brot home all our fodder from there our measuring Tub & a Bedstand Cottage which Mr Moses Joseph [Jn?] Sent us fro Mr Peaks clear clear & hot weather in the day night Cool very dry & ground hard to Plow,

12th Richard lent me his horse to Plow to day Finished hilling up Sweet Potatoes this morning & late planting Irish, Tommy Robt & Sam Plowing Guanoed field yet Tommy Harrowing middle Sam & Robt Siding to day Mr Dalton choping in Corn after Plows clear dry & Hot. Sallies Baby sick all this week rising on Jery thigh Doct Estes been to see him once Fine Rain this evening we replanted some Tobacco Planted 4 or 6 rows in Branch cut off the hills

13th July 1867 Plowing in Corn Mr Dalton […] up after Plows in Guanoed field, fine rain last evening planted some & replanted Tobacco -

14. Same work fine weather went to meeting & started to Court, Richard & myself little Jere J Whitehead very sick, Doct Estes been to see him & Cut his rising on his leg. . –

15. At Court myself Jacob son Jere W. Diedin the last night about midnight, our folks Plowing & work= ing in Corn, to day - fine weather -

16 Cutting Oats Abram sent 2 hands to bind oats, Ralph cutting @ 65¢. Lucy Hunt binding Digging Grave for Jacobs little Jere, - Mrs furbush here, fine weather - I hope sallies Jere is a little better tho we dont know

17th Mr Dalton Hilling up & Plowing lot Tobacco Plowing Corn above Same House & next to orchard Robt Daltons Plow Beam broke & had to put in another Tommy filling out rows in Guano Corn Fannie White here,

18 went to strait stone to Register Robert & Tommy Plowing in Guanoed corn did not quite get done Mr Dalton & Sam choping in Corn after Plows to day,

19 Finished laying by Corn with Plows & choped it over too except Cotton Patch Lot. Plowing & Hilling up Lot Tobacco, my wife gone to Mrs Colemans to day I went to Keens yesterday

20th Finished choping corn &began to Plowing & Hilling up Lot Tobacco tho all had holliday about 2 Hours by Sun Pride & Doran came home this day Mattie & alice came to Mrs Colemans the 18 day of July ¬Cool nights & hot days

21st Going to Sunday School to day

22 Cutting oats to day Abram Catharine & son Sam binders Abram son Henry Cutting clear weather cool nights days hot - Phil sometimes binding & shacking Paid
