To the Hon Mayor and Members of the Board of Alderman and House of Delegates of the City Council of the City of Seattle Petition of W H Gleason for compensation for damages. on Table H of D date 4/23/94 Comm Streets

as the same were before the beginning of such constructing or repair. Your petitioner alleges that this is a provision that the City owed to the abutting property owners to see that it was conplied with by the Grantee or his assigne. Your petitioner states that he isimformed by his counsel that he has no legal remedy against, the city, except by this appeal to the sense of justice and equity of the members of your Honorable Bodies. It cannot be ture taht the city would authorize an insolvent Corporation to do your petitioner the wrong and injustice and injury shown in this case, and the City had full power over the creature of its creation, refuse to do any thing for the relief of your petitioner and tax payer. Your petitioner therefore asks that a committee be appointed to assess the damages done to your petitioner by its insolvent Grantee,or that your Honorable Bodies compel the grantee or holder of the franchise, to do what it solumnly promised to do when it accepted the franchise, or that the ditch or canal be filled up by order of the city and your petitioner be paid the damages which my be found by the investigationof your committee be justly due to your petitioner. From Committee on Harbor and Wharves Granting petition of Thomas Ewing for the use the foot of a street for a ferry slip provided Main Street is substituted for Washington Street in the petition. Adopted From Committee on Sewers & Drainage granting petition of Mrs Mary E Kenworthy and others for a sewer in Sixth Street between Union Street and Pike Street to connect with Pike Street sewer, the same to be of 8 inch iron stone sewer pipe. Adopted. From same Committee granting petition of W H Gleason and others for extension of Washington Street sewer so as to extend the same to Ninth Street which is as far as the street is graded. Adopted From Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds granting petition of D B Ward on behalf of the Methodist Protestant Church for permission to alter repair and enlarge said church building situated on the Corner of Madison and Second Streets. Adopted. From Same Committee recommending that engine House No 1 be repaired: "that the City clerk be instructed to employ John Lick to repair the roof of said building That the clerk also advertise for bids for papering the walls of all the rooms and calsoming all ceilings and for repainting all wood work. now painted, two coats of good paint and for repairing all grained wood work three coats of paint and two coats of varnish, all work to be the same nature as the present work". Adopted.
