703 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Nov 6 1885 No 4336 that all the cases of the City against Powers and Meyers be dismissed at the City's Cost. Adopted From Committeee on Public Buildings and Grounds submitting plans and Specification for a stable and recommend adoption of same. Report and plans adopted and Clerk directed to advertise for bids for constructing same Fro Street Committe recommending that the petition of E F Lange for removal of obstruction in Jefferson Street be not granted adopted From Same committee returning petition of W H Bow et al for a new bridge on Lincoln Street recommending that the same be not granted. Referred back to Committee From Same Committee reporting that petition of C B Bagley for opening road in Mercer's addition had been complied with. Approved From same Committee requesting that the Council as a body examine and report upon the petition of the Northwestern Cracker Co. for a Sidewalk on the West Side of Front Street From Committee on Fire and Water returning communicationof a F A Minick in regard to Salary of Engineer No 1 with the recommendation that the salary of Engineer of Engine No 2 be reduced to $75.00 per month. Adopted From same Committee reporting on repairs etc. made on Engine No 1 also on repairing Engine House No 3 at Lake Union and hanging bells in No 2 & 3 Report adopted ordered filed.

2 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE May 7 1886 From W M Jones printing his resignation as police officer, On motion the resignation is accepted From Press Publishing Co in regard to city printing referred to Judiciary Committee From secretary of the Fire Department notifying the Council of the result of an election in the said department for Chief filed May 3rd 1886 as follows: Gardner Kellogg received 131 votes and J F Mc Donald received 109 votes and that the Board of Delegates of the Seattle Fire Department at a meeting held May 6th 1886 had declared said Gardner Kellogg elected Chief of said Department On motion of Councilman Calligan Gardner Kellogg is appointed Chief of the Seattle Fire Department for the term commencing June 7th 1886 From E F Lange for removal of Water Tanks at Corner of 6th & Jefferson Streets refered to Fire & Water Committee and City Attorney From D T Denny that plat of East Park Addition be approved and submitting said plat for inspection Council takes a recess of five minnutes to examine said plat on being called to order. The said plat is on motion approved.
