On motion it is ordered that the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to take the necessary steps to collect the several amounts due the city for for theater and exhibition.

757 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Mar 5 1886 From G Kellogg chief of Fire Department for quarter ending Feb 20th read and referred to Committee of Fire & Water Committee Reports received From the Committee on right of way of Beach Road reporting progess, read and on motion laid on the table On motion it is ordered that no work be done on Beach Road until right of way is secured. From the Committee on Sewers and Drainage reommending that the petition of G G Lyon et al for sewer along Block 14 of Boren's Addition be laid on the table on motion report is adopted From the Finance committee on the petition of 1st National Bank recommending that the Clerk be directed to receive the warrants on Seneca St Improvements fund Ord #401 held by said bank and issue warrants on the road fund for them, read and on motion adopted The Clerk reported that the tax roll for 1885 had been filed in his office by the City Treasurer on motion of Councilman Calligan the Clerk is ordered to issue warrant to the Treasurer for the collectionof delinquent taxes. the following applications for liquor licenses are received and referred to Committee on licenses viz: Oliver Bernard, M D Booth, A Lunn, Davidson and Morgan, E C Slorah, M McDonald, Margaret Harmon V Schmid, J W Smith, Benj Murphy, [John Brannan]] S Baxter and M K Gottstein Liquor licenses are ordered issued to the following Gumbert & Dickman retail intoxicating 3 mos from March 1st A F Hill retail intoxicating 3 mos from March 3rd J P Tighe retail intoxicating 3 mos from March 16th Henry Aurenheimer retail intoxicating 3 mos from Feb 18th Ernst Romey retail Malt 3 mos from Feb 22d

18 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE May 24 1886 Be it rememberd that on this the 24th day of May 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Concil Chamber pursuant to adjournment the following officers being present: Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, W A Harrington, T W Lake, Chas McDonald, and G W Young thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petition of Mrs L W Foss calling the attention of the Council to the condition of sewer in Block 12 of Boren's addition read and referred to Sewer Committee with power to act Petition of L Diller et al for amendment of section 1 o ordinance No 149 read and referred to License Committee Petitionof J P Tighe for liquor license referred to License Com Petitionof Hayes for permission to peddle without license on motin the permission is referred City Attorney submits a revenue ordinance consideration of which is continued until next meeting It being brought to the notice of the Council that M J Carkeek who was appointed a member of the Board of Registration to represent the 1st Ward is not now a resident of said Ward, itis orderred that his appointment be revoked and N S Snyder be appointed a member of the Board of Registration Committee on Fire & Water report orally that more hose is required by the Fire Department On motion Clerk is instructed to advertise for bids for city printing is accordance with report of Judiciary Committee bids to be received up to 4 o'lcock P M on Thursday May 27th 1886 On motion it is ordered that the Chairman of the Fire and Water Committee be authorized to purchase such amount of fire hose as he may deem necessary

Report of City Treasurer for May, read and referred to Finance Com and returned Approved Report and Pay Roll of the Street Commissioner for month of May read and referred to Street Com. and approved Committee Reports Received From Committee on Fire And Water returning the petition of G C Manning et al praying for a fire plug at the Corner of Block 2 Bell & Dennys Addition reproting that the Spring Hill Water Co would not lay the pipe unless paid the sum of $300.00 to partially defray the expense and recommending that the petitions be granted. On motion the report and recommendation of the Committee rejected. From Committee on License and Revenue recommending that the petition of L Diller et al praying that the Hotel Runners License be abolished be not granted. adopted From same commmittee recommending that the license of Bersch and Hink for the sale of Intox liquor by retail be transfered to Jacob Bersch upon his filing a new bond.
