786 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Apr 23 1886 for a less period than one year On motion it is ordered that the license fee for the sale of intoxicating liquor at wholesale be $150. per annum On motion it is ordered that the license fee for the sale of intoxicating liquor at retail be $500. per annum On motion it is ordered that the license fee for the sale of malt liquor only at wholesale the $100. per annum On motion itisordered that the license fee for the sale of Malt liquor only at retail be $250. per annum The ordinance which is entitled "An ordinance governing the traffic in intoxicating liquors within the City of Seattle now coming up for action and each section being considered separately is on motion adopted. On motion the aforesaid ordinance is placed on final passage and is adopted by the folllowing vote to wit: in favor of the adoption thereof Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, T W Lake, Chas McDonald J J Post and G W Young; against none On motion the Council does now adjourn H L Yesler mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk by E Shepard deputy

55 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 29 1886 omitted by assessor Emily Klingel assessed on Improvements E 1/2 of Lots 1& 2 Block 44 Maynards Addn $500. Omitted by assessor Ordered that the assessment of John Ross on Lot 5 B 12 Boren & Dennys with improvements total valuation $4150. The same property being assessed to the Estate of John Ross Ordered that the assessment of the C & P S R R Co on the SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 of NE 1/4 sec 28 T 25 R 4 10 acres $200 be cancelled the same property having been assessed twice to said Co on the roll. Saml L Cullis reduced $250. on personal property acct mortagage G W Hall reduced on Improvement Block 40 Hrs S A Bell from 2000 to 1200 Schwabacher Bros & Co reduced on personal property from 72,000 to 62,000 Communication for Geo F Frye in regard to valuation of Opera House Block read and on motion tabled Petitoin of J C Murphy for permission to sell an patented article without taking out a license. Rejected. 85 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 17 1886 Be it remembered that on this 17th day of September 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The Following officers are present viz: MayorW H Shoudy and Councilmen J M Frink, J Furth, Jas Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake & C F Reitze Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Communications Etc Read Petition of the Pacific Postal Telegraph Cable Co for permission to erect a telegaph poles and stretch wires thereon within the city limits. Granted on the condition that the poles be erected under the supervision of the Street Commissioner Petitionof Eben Smith et al for street Lights along Madison Street as far East as James St referred to Street Light Committee Petition of Roger S Green et al for Street Lights along James Street from 5th Street to 10th Street Granted. Petition of A C Anderson for permission for the opening of 13th Street from Madison Street to Union Street Referred to Street Commission with Authority to open said street, if upon examination they deem it proper. Reports Read From Health Officer Dr E L Smith recommending that the cesspool under the buildings at the North East Corner of Commercial and Washington Streets Sep 17 1886
