775 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 2 1886 in reference to the extension of Madison St sewer recommending that no action be taken in the matter at present, on motion the report is adopted. From same Committee on the petition of O J Carr et al for drain on Blanchard Street, recommending that the Street Commission be instructed to construct either all open ditch or a box drain as in his judgement will best accomplish the desierd object on motion the report is adopted. FromSame Committee on the petition of H G Struve for a sewer on 2d street. on motion the matter is referred back to the sewer committee Fron Judiciary Committee on the petition of G W Crane for reimbursement of purchase money at tax sale on property doubly assessed, recommending that petition be granted and petitioner allowed the sum of $16.00. On motion the report is adopted and warrant ordered drawn in accordance therewith From Same Committee on claim of J Murphy for reimbursement on account of injury received while acting as police officer; recommending that the claim be not allowed, on motion the report is adopted. 32 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Jun 29 1886 Be it remembered that on this the 29th day of June 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment: the following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, T W Lake, Chas McDonald and G W Young when the following proceedings are had to wit: Ordered that the Clerk be and is hereby directed to give ten(10) days public notice as required by law that a general election for all City Offices of the City of Seattle will be held on Monday July 12th 1886 The Officers to be elected shall be as follows to wit: One Mayor; One Attorney, and one Chief of Police: and From the First Ward One councilman for two years and one councilman for one year; from the Second Ward one councilman for two years, and one councilman for one year. From the Third Ward one councilman for two years and one councilman for one year: From the Fourth Ward one councilman for two years and one councilman for one year. The places appointed for holding such election and the officers appointed to conduct the same are as follows to wit: First Ward: Election to be held at Engine House No 2 South Third Street: Inspector W V Rinehart, judges J M Frink and J W Hunt Clerks D R McKinley and G W Crane Second Ward. 299 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 16 1887 From same Committee granting petition of John Wickland & Others for a box drain Corner Sixth and Pine Streets Adopted. From Same Committee on Communication of Street Commissioner in regard to defective sidewalks as follows: "We recommend that the following portions of sidewalks be condemned and new sidewalks ordered built: On the North side of Cherry Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets; On north side of Marion Street between Fourth & Fifth Streets; & on West side of Front Street between Pike and Union Streets From Committee on Fire &Water on report of Chief of the Fire Department, recommending that the city appropriate $250. for the purpose of sending a hose team to the Spokane Fireman's Tournament. Adopted. From City Attorney recommending that a quit claim deed be given by the City to Charle Hart for Lot 4 Block 20 in Bell & Denny's Plat, Also that the claim of G W Crane for $50.96 account 'tax certificates issued on double assessments be paid. Also that Myra C Ingraham's claim of $38.61 for same cause be paid. Adopted. From City Attorney on Communication of Justice H F Jones in regard to officer's fees. Ordered filed and Councilman Furth gives notice that at the next meeting of the Council he will move to increase the salaries of Police Officers. New Plats Plat of Madison Street Addition to the City of Seattle and James Addition to the City of Seattle referred to City Surveyor.
