A good day. Some clouds but no rain here. Jim & Ben worked on tobacco until dinner then they & Josie and three of the children went to Mr Bill Tuckers burial and then to Chatham. I do hope they got there ok. I got supper. Reese & Henry and I eat. I milked. The boys fed the horses & hogs. Now we are ready to go to bed. Reese and Henry will sleep in my room. 8 30

A good day. Ben worked on the land for peas. Owen plowed corn. Jim made a crate for the calf and worked some in the garden this evening. Henry plowed some. Josie done a big washing. Got done by twelve. I got dinner. This evening Marvin let Reese take me to White Falls. He made the trip ok. I am so glad that nothing happened. Virginia Wooding spent the day with Edna. 9 30 ocl

A good day. Jim and Marvin & Reese went to Gretna and carried the calves. Ben & Henry plowed and sowed peas. Mr Owen plowed in his corn. Josie and got dinner. Carrie and the children come down here. Janie & Aubra Brumfield come this evening. I went to Johnson Reynolds. Johnson come and got a cat and 3 kittens. We got a barrel of flour to day. 9 30 oclock

Sunday, June 13, 1920

A good day. Jim staid at home all day. Ben went to Mount Airy to get ice. Did not get any. Come by Renan & brought Kate Harvey home with him. He had all the children with him. He then went to Strait Stone and got ice. Josie made cream for dinner. We had our first snaps and beets. We had fried chicken. Marvin and family was here a few minutes this evening. Reese Smith carried Aunt Kate home. Henry too. 9 oclock

Tuesday, June 22, 1920

A good day. The men thined corn and then cut wheat. Franklin has bin very sick all day. I do hope he will be better by morning. Two of the Hubbard girls washed for Josie today. I got dinner. Reese carried me to White Falls. The river was so muddy that we could no fish and catch any thing. We come by Mount Airy and bough a few things. 9 oclock

A good day. Very warm. Ben & Jim finished laying by Bens tobacco. Josie got dinner and ironed some then went to Marvins. Reese & Henry and I went to White Falls. I caught a few fish. The river was mudy. I brought home a bushel of meal. Carrie and I togather sold 8 doz eggs at 35 cts per doz. All of us are reason able well. I hope I am thanksful.

A good day. Ben carried Mrs Car home this morning. Henry & I went with him. Jim wormed tobacco this morning. Picked black berries this evening. Reese carried me to White Falls this eve. I caught a few fish. The river was muddy. I helped Josie get dinner. Harvey Charles & Virginia is here to night. Mollie Reynolds was at Marvins. A lot of girls went to the pond this eve. 9 oclock

Saturday, July 24, 1920

A good day and very warm. To night we have a hard rain. Jim & Ben topped tobacco nearly all day. Late this evening Ben & Josie and three children went to Jim Powers. Said they would come home tonight but they wont on acount of rain. Josie washed some this morning & got dinner. Corn, butter beans, potato, baked pies. Marvin let Rees take me to White Falls. I caught 34 fish. I eat dinner at Carries. Eva is sick.

A good day. Ben & Josie and children got home about dark. Jim got huckle berries enough to make three pies. I made them. I went to Marvins a while this evening. Kate Harvey was there. Reese carried her home. Carrie and all the children and I went with her. Jim has staid around home all day. Ben & family and Mrs Car & Mrs Power went to Mr Role Hubards to day. 9 oclock

A good day. Ben & Jim worked in their tobacco until noon then they sowed a turnip patch and worked in tobacco some more. Josie got dinner and ironed. Reese carried Henry and I fishing. We caught several fish. I could not dig for bait. Josie got them for me. I wore her nice watch the first one that I ever wore. Bettie Haley washed here today. She had a boy to help her. I went to Mr Owens this evening. Henry has bin sick all day.

A good day. The men folks pulled leaves. Ben & Jim, Owen and boys. Marvin & William, Henry, Reese, and Elic [?] filled a house and pulled some for another. Josie ironed most of the day. Carrie & the children went to meeting. Reese drives the car. They come down here a little while. I have jobed a round as usual. 9 oclock

A good day. Ben worked on his car the most of the day. Jim fired tobacco all day. Josie got dinner. I got the breakfast and milked the cows and churned. I cut cucumber and put them in brine. I gathered some butter beans and corn for dinner. This evening I went to Union Grove to preaching. Reese carried his mother and I. When I come home I milked the cows and eat supper and went to Marvins. He carried me and Carrie to Mr Allens to preaching.

A good day. Jim worked all day. Ben went with me to Chatham. Kate Harvey went with us. We eat dinner at Nellies. Nellie and Evylin come home with us. Josie staid and got dinner. This evening Josie and Carrie went to see Mollie. They walked up there. Reese met them with the car and brought them home. Marvin commenced to pull leaves today. 9 oclock

A good day. Marvin pulled leaves. Jim & Ben & Owen helped him. Reese carried Nell & Josie to Jim Thomsons. They got a bout two bushels of peaches. This evening Nellie and I peeled them. Josie helped in the tobacco all the evening or until they finished. Christenia Reynols & Doris Brum come a little while. They got some tomatoes. 9 oclock

A good morning. Rain this evening. Ben & Jim [&]Henry suckered tobacco. Josie and three children and went to Ricevill to the assosiation. Marvin & his family went. Reese drove Bens car. There was a big crowd there and a plenty to eat. Every one seem to have a good time. I met a lot of old friends. Jim & Ben & Henry eat cold dinner. 9 oclock

A good day. It did not rain today here. It rained in sight. The men folks worked on their tobacco. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and butter beans. Reese carried me to Johnson Reynols to get some peaches. I got enough to put up two gallons. We had peaches and cream for dinner. Josie gathered some beans. I helped a little. I went to the sweet potato patch and got a few potatoes. I intend makein pies. 8:30 oclock

A good day. The men finished filling a bank of tobacco. Josie fired tobacco this morning and picked a basket of beans. I got the dinner. This evening Josie & Carrie and the little children went to Lee Brumfield. Ben carried them and Reese brought them home. Jack Harvey got home yesterday from Richmond. Charles Harvey and Henry Brumfield went a round to gather today. The men folks wont have to sit up tonight. 8 oclock

A good day. The men folks moved tobacco. Josie helped them all the evening. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and turnip salit. I went to see Mr Owens baby this morning. They called the Dr to see it. He is very sick. I went to see Sarah Emerson this evening. Henry & Hellen Brumfield went. Reese Smith carried us. He is a good driver. I eat supper with Carrie to night. Jim is at the barn tonight.

A good day. Jim and Ben commence to cut corn. I went to White Falls. Reese Smith carried me & Henry on the machine. I did not catch many fish. Josie got dinner. Bettie Haley come and ironed for Josie this evening. Carrie Smith come down and got a few aples. Ben & Henry & Reese has gone hunting to night.

A good day. Ben went for Rob Hubbard and family and Mrs Car. Faber Jefferson & family and Lizzie Bennett come at dark. They had supper. Josie and I got dinner and ironed some. Reese carried me to White Falls. Henry went with us. We are a bout ready to go to bed. 11 oclock

A good day. Jim and Ben & Marvin went to Danville to a farmers meeting. I am a fraid it wont do any good. Reese carried me to White Falls fishing. Josie ironed most of the day. Jim & Ben and Owen and Marvin all went to the meeting in Danville. Carrie washed and let Reese go with me. Hazel was sick today. I do hope she will be well tomorow.

9th A good day. Jim and Ben plowed some and hauled up the sweet potatoes. Josie and I got dinner. Josie pulled weeds in the yard. I went to Marvins a few minutes this evening. Reese and Henry and I went to White Falls. Come by Kates. She was not at home. Gordon Bennett & Frances come this evening.

Sunday 10th A good day. We all staid at [home]. Gordon & Frances went from here this evening. I am very glad that they come. Josie and I got dinner. We had cabbage & butter beans and chicken. Ben & Jim hunted for a dog collar & found it. Marvin and Reese & Paul went to see Mr and Mrs Taz Wooding. Fond them as well as usual. Bens opossum got a way last night.

10th A good day. Jim & Ben plowed until twelve oclock. This evening Ben carried Jim to Gretna. Franklin and I went with him. Lizzie come this evening. I got my interest on bond today. Josie is feeling mighty bad today. Kate was at Carries this evening. I got dinner today. Ben has gone hunting tonight with Marvin and Reese. Henry has a bad colde.

19th A good day. Ben went to Gretna for a casket for Roy Mayhew. He died from a burn. He was buried at his grandpas burial ground. We were all at the burial. I got dinner. Ben and Josie went to see Martha Miller. She a greed to come here and stay a while. Henry went with Marvin and Reese & Hugh hunting. Did not catch anything.

23rd A good day. Ben and Jim finished sowing grain to day. Reese and Henry and I went to Worshams pond. I caught one nice fish. Dr Owen come this evening and examined Josie and says she must go to a hospidle. Ben & Josie and the baby went to Jim Powers to night. They want Mrs Car to come with them home to help take care of Mabel. I dread the time that we will have.

A good day. Ben & Jim stripped tobacco all day and tonight. I cooked dinner and put it a way then went fishing. Reese drove Bens car. Henry went with us. I caught one nice fish. We eat our dinner on the bank of the pond. Marvin & Carrie went to Strait Stone this evening. The [?] come with Marvin home. Ben got a letter from Josie this evening. We hope that she is getting on OK.

A bright colde day. Ben and Jim stripped tobacco. They eat dinner at Marvins. Franklin staid with Aunt Carrie. Reese and Henry and I went to Worshams Pond. I wish I had staid at home and worked. Ben heard from Josie. She wants to come home Monday. Mrs Car and the little children are at Jim Powers. I will be glad when they come home. Earl Booker come with us on the car near Lees home. She was going to John Emersons to a party tonight.

A good day. Ben & Jim and Henry stripped tobacco. I got breakfast and milked the cows then made and baked bread for dinner and made coffee then dug bait. Reese carried me fishing. We went to White falls. Stopped at Mt Airy. I had a check cashed and bought a bucket of lard. I come home and churned, salted the butter, then got supper and yet I cant do enough. Ben in pertickler dont want to bother with me any wa[y]s. If he thought as much of me as he does of some others I would be glad.

A good day. Ben & Jim helped Marvin kill hogs. Nellie put up her sausage and cut the meat for mine. Josie seasoned for us both. Vinie the colored woman fried out the lard for us. Reese went for Martha Miller this morning to help Carrie. Mr Rob Hubbard and Ella and two business men come to see Mrs Car. They did not stay for dinner.
