17 Tuesday the 12th August AD 1834
Commenced with strong winds from the
W ward. Ship under all sail at the meridian.
Made Fayal bearing E be [by] N distance 20 miles.
Squared our yards and steered in for the harbor.
At 5 PM backed off the town [?] and went at shore.
At 7 caime [came] off and stood to sea. Middle part
calm and a greate [great] swell. Latter part fresh
breezes from the NE. All hands employed in
working the ship up to the sown. So ends
all well.

18 Wednesday the 13th
Began with fresh winds from the NE.
Ship under all sail about 5 miles from
the land at [no number] oclok [o'clock]. Went ashore at 6. Our
crew and produce all onboard. Squared our
yards sit all possible sail and put to sea.
At 8 the SE point of Fayal bore N. Distance
10 miles from which I take my departure
for the Island of St. Anthony. Middle and
latter part pleasant breezes from the E ward.
Steering SSW be [by] compass. Hands employed
in sundry jobs as occasion required. So ends
all well. Lat obsd 37:08 Log 28:08

19 Thursday the 14th
Commenced with pleassant breezes from the
SE ward. Steered by the wind with all
sail set. Middle part the wind and weather
a bout the same. Latter part fresh winds
with frequent rain squalls. Larboard
watch employed in setting up rigging
and other sundry jobs as occasion
required. So ends all well. Lat obsd [none listed]
