23 Monday the 18th August AD 1834
First part of these 24 hours strong trades
with frequent rain squalls. Took in and made
as occasion required. At 6 PM steered Sth.
One brig in sight a head. Middle and latter part
light breezes from a ESE At 2 AM halled [hauled]
in our steering sails and braced sharp. Hands
employed in making spun yarn and other sundry
jobs as necessity required. So ends Lat 26:56

24 Tuesday the 19th
Commenced with light trade winds. Weather
thick and havey [heavy]. Ship under all sail. Course
Sth be [by] compass. Hands employed in drawing
and knotting yarns. At 4 PM steered Sth. {illegible]
Middle and latter part strong breezes from a
bout E. At 8 AM furled the fly gib and
the mizzen royal. Latter part hands
employed and ships duty as occasion required.
Boatsteers in grinding craft. So goes all

25 Wednesday the 20th
Began with fresh breezes from a bout East.
Steering SE by Sth be [by] compass. Bend a [illegible]
main top gallant sails. Middle and latter
part the wind and weather a bout the same.
Ship under all sail. Course the same. Saw
nothing worth remarks. Hands employed
in sitting [setting] up rigging. So remains
