The day began with light trades and
dark weather. Steering Sth by W be
compass. Hands employed in breaking out
the main hatch and lashing lumber. Middle
and latter part the wind and weather a bout
the same. The day being the Sabbath
no labour done more than occasion
required. So remains Lat obs 14:20
Longitude 25:36

30 Monday the 25th
Began with light airs from the NE ward.
Ship under all sail. Course Sth be W be
compass. Saw a brig to the windward.
Steering N W. At 6 AM took a violent
squall which caused us to blew up and down
as fast as possible. At 9 more moderate.
Set all sail. Again passed a [duih?] brig to
to the wind ward. Steering by the wind.
Latter part hands employed in ships duty.
So remains Lat obsd 12:43

31 Tuesday the 26th
Began with fresh breezes. Steering S by W
be compass. Under all sail. At 4 oclok discovered
one of our bobstays parted. We amediately [immediately]
repaired it and set it up again. At
6 oclok steered Sth. Middle and latter part
light airs with frequent gentle showers.
At AM passed a brig steering to the Sth
ward by the wind. Saw a skool [school] of black
fish. Lord [lowered] and chased but without success.
Latter part hands employed in [illegible]
our bread. So remains. Lat obsd 11:20
