The day began with light trade winds.
Weather fair. Ship under all sail. Course
Sth be [by] compass. Middle part the wind
and weather a bout the same. Latter part
calm. A vessel in sight to the W ward.
Hands employed in sundry jobs of
ships duty. So goes all well.

33 Thursday the 28th
Begins with calm weather and frequent
showers. Obsd a great swell from the
NE for which I allow 1 and [illegible] knot
per hour. Middle and latter part fresh
breezes from a bout W be Sth. Carry thru
top gallant sails. Steer to the E ward
by the wind. Two ships in sight
boath [both?] steering the same course. Suppose
them to bee whalers. This day sent
down our fore and mizzen royal yards and
un bent the sail. The boatsteers employed
[illegible] in grinding craft. So goes. Lat obsd

34 Friday the 29th
Began with strong winds from a bout
Sth. Ship under three top gallant sails
steering to the E ward by the wind. Two
ships in sight standing the same way.
Middle and latter part light breezes. Weather
pleasant. Set our fly and mizzin royal.
Starboard watch employed in making
scrubbrushes. Boatsteers in grinding
craft. So goes. Lat 9:00 per count
