44 Monday the 8th Sept 1834
Throughout these 24 fresh breezes from
the Sth ward. Ship under all sail. Steering
WSW by the wind. At 4 PM spoke
wth the Columbia Hidges [?] of Sag Harbor
with 106 brls of sperm oil. At 2 PM
took a lunar by measuring the distance
of the moon from the sun and
found the longitude to a gree with
the chronometer. Latter part the
Columbia is in sight off our lee [quarters?].
Hand employed in breaking out for
water. So goes. Lat obsd 1:10 Long 17:20

45 Tuesday the 9th
During these 24 hours light winds
a bout SSE. Ship under all sail.
Steering Sth W by the wind. At 6 PM
the Columbia is out our sight.
A sturn [stern?] two other in sight a head.
At 6 AM raised a ship in our weather
quarter steering Sth W at the
meridean [meridian] a brest of us. First part
of the day the larboard watch
employed in bending a fore spenser.
Latter part in drawing and knotting
yarns. So ends. Lat obsd 00:25 miles
