Boston Nov'r 3d 1750
{Captain} Jonathan Waldo

Since we wrote the above have receiv
ed a Letter from you {per} {Captain} Fowles, wherein are Informed
of your Arrival at Carolina after a long passage twen
ty Seven Days, & are sorry to find you are like to come to a poor
Markett, by reason of so many Vessells being there, but doubt
not if you exert yourself you will fare as well as the rest
we cant but think you would have stood a better Chance
of disposing of your Cargo quick, if you had proceeded
to Nuce [Neuse River} River, instead of Pamplico, as we are informed, there
was no Vessell there, but as you have thought best to pro
=ceed to Pamplico, desire you would be as expeditious as
possible in disposing of your Cargo, & reloading & proceed
=ing on your Voyage, as all the Advantage we expect,
depends here on. If you find as we hear that Pork is scarce
& you cant get as much as is mention'd in your Orders, take
the more Beef, or Candles, or the other Articles that you can
get & think will answer best, & if you cant get the Quantity
of Hogs & Corn for them reasonable, you must take as many
Horses as you can conveniently carry, take particular
Care your Provision be well overhaul'd & pickled. You
must observe that Beef is Prohibited at Surrinam & must
enter it there, as Pork or Mackrell &c but before you enter
there, first Avise with Mr Elias Jarvis {junior} or {Captain} Best of
there, or with some Merchant to advise you to enter the
Vessell & what is Enterable, if Vernon should not be there,
or you dont find Letters of recommendation, to any particular
