Indenture File

Monday Jan 31, 1943. [1944?added in pencil]

Dear Dr Van Waters :

I do hope this finds you enjoying good health, free of colds and a bit more rested.

This last day of the month of January this new year, certainly finds me further advanced than a year ago this time, for which I most certainly utter a grateful prayer.

I like my new work just fine and the "powers that be" here are pleased with me. I have been told they have plans for me, so started me in learning the business from the ground up. It is most interesting and who knows but that I might become quite an expert on stocks and bonds. I realize I have a lot of ground to cover as well as plenty of hard work and intense concentration, but then I will love it I know.

I have been feeling just fine, but, of course, I would slip on the ice and give myself quite a lump. Everything else concerning me is progressing just fine and I fervently pray it will remain so.

Please give my regards to Miss Kelley to whom I have given the title "Charming and Beautiful." I will call you soon as well as writing to let you know my progress.

Respectfully yours, Mary Rose Cronin

Dr. Van Waters:

Miss Cronin has not returned the keys for the rooms held in the home. Would it be possible to have her return them very soon? Miss Sullivan now occupies the room & must use my spare keys.

Miss K. [Lange?]

P.S. Miss Cronin has quite a number of things here -- which I transferred to another room.

Miss Mary Cronin, 51 College Avenue, Medford, Mass.

Dear Mary:

I want to send you just a word to remind you that your report is overdue, and we shall need it before another week goes by, please. Also, we need to receive payment of $1.70 for October and November telephone bill which you incurred here. And your room key is badly needed by the nurse assigned to the room you formerly occupied.

When you can manage it, you have numerous articles here which you probably would like to be wearing if you could come or send for them.

I do hope you are making out well in your work, and certainly wish you well. I also hope you are keeping free of colds and well, otherwise.

Sincere good wishes,

Superintendent
