Dear Dr. Van Waters - ,

As I have only been here in this Institution six weeks to-morrow and this being my first letter to you of course there is very little for me to say.

This I do want to say I am very sorry that I should have to be here, and that I didn't appreciate my freedom and the good things on God's given earth.

But I think that these things are put up on us to show how well off we were out in the world and for being so ungrateful.
