I was shocked when learning of your great sad loss of Rev. Van Waters passing away and may Our Dear Lord be with you in your sad bereavement. and give you courage to bear. the lose of one so beloved.

Indeed Rev. Van Waters acquaintance shall always remain as a beautiful Inspiration. and may his soul rest in peace, and rewarded with a crown in heaven for his beautiful works.

Dear Dr. M. Van Waters--

I tried to get you on phone this PM. so got Miss Johnson instead, it was so good to hear her voice.

Well I called to see that Marian C Nichols, at 57 Mt. Vernon St. West End Boston. My! but I go scared when I saw here she looked so stern.

I told her being that in your Institution. I called just to hear what she had to say, & I am so glad I did see her, Dr. to tell Dr. the truth I think she is out to poke her nose in goverments affairs.

I said I had no trouble there alway found your place spotless clean, no trouble around all officers very nice. I said Dr. is a beautiful person very human & kind you had a beautiful mother & father both in with God's arms at rest & that your father was a clergy. she said. she had no use for minsters. (well what does she belong then? said she knor Jnr. Lyman all his family that he is a political man, and never made good in his work, that you Dr. lied saw you. tell lies up at State House, at hearings. About that girl found dead there she was

Jail short time made lots of trouble would not keep their rules & also struck head matron there, this is true Dr. Miss Nichols spoke very hard against you Dr. she said she has been investigation your Institution for a long time & that Dr. was put out off California I said I not only heard but read it in black & white in a book published. I was disgusted by her I said just facing to her & she had her long legs crossed & hem of her dress on top of her knees, partly exposing herself. a woman for her age to sit in such a way.

She showed to me a paper published once a mo, big writ about about you Dr. in last Aug. & this month's called The Civil Service Reporter) Jan. number 1949 I am sending Jan's to you by mail. I will try to get Aug. to. while she talked several upper teeth of here bobbing in & out of her mouth. & she hesitate stop to think what she would say, she sort of stumbel in her talk
