Dear Dr. Van Waters., May I please have you appoint some one oter than Mrs. Delaney do my outside shopping.
It seems every time I put in an outside order to Delaney she always comes back with nothing and tells me they dont have what I want. For instance I asked her ^today to get me a housecoat and slippirs which I need badly and I asked if possible could she get something in a flower print just a simple housecoat and

she has disappointed me once again by telling me they didnt have anything I wanted. What does she mean . Is it because she just doesnt want to get things for me or what is wrong. She saids she couldnt get a housecoat for anything less than $5 dollars and I gave her over $6 to spend. I dont know the prince of things now being [locked?] up for such a long time so I just gave her my idea of how much I wanted to spend but as usuall I got nothing. My sister sends me the money to buy clothes and I have no way of getting them due to her. Id appreciate it if you would look into the matter. Thank you Gladys Hall

Miss Gladys Hall Box [849?] Green River, Wyoming
Dear Gladys Hall:
I passed through Green River last Sunday on my way to the Pacific Coast. If only I had know there was to be a few minutes' stop, I would have telegraphed. I was in the City of Portland train and the stop was not listed. As the train stood still I looked hard at the town, hoping for a glimpse of you, but I am sure you do not live near the tracks.
I made three speeches in Portland, Oregon; three in Seattle; then went by plane to Los Angeles; and home by plane late Monday night. It was a rugged trip. I am so glad to be home.
Everything here looks fine. We all appreciate your cards and messages. Give my greetings to your sister.
All good wishes.
Your friend, Miriam Van Waters [signature] Miriam Van Waters, Superintendent
