and Second Regt and later by the Infantry of
Camptons legion
This was before the Second battle of Mannassas
now Andersons Brigade was composed of the
following Regiments first Second fifth sixth
and Palmetto Sharpshooters to the Infantry of Hampton
legion commanded by Lt Col Mark Garys
this Anderson Brigade took part in the following
Battles second Mannassas August 30th and 31st 1862 and
again at Boonsburrough gap M.D. on the 15th Sept 1862
and at Sharpsburg M.D. on Sept 16th 1862 this was
said to be among the bloodiest battes of the war,
fight began at Sun up and was decided by
4 oclock our los was heavy Gen Lees army 35000
strong, McClellan put it said 60,000 in action
with 20,000 held in reserve this was a square
hand to hand fight 8,000 confederates lay on the field
dead and wounded the union army loss 12,000
killed and wounded again 16th of Dec. 1862 at
Fredricksburg Va we licked the yanks easily
