Wm. P. Dole Esq Comr Ind Affs Dear Sir, Please allow me, (without having the pleasure of a personal acquaintance with you myself) - To introduce to your acquaint ance, L.G. Hughs Esq, formerly a Merchant in Millerton California, - from whom during the time I held the office of Sub Agent, for Fresno Indian Agency, I purchased and received more supplies than from any other person. There is left a bal ance of from 1300 to 1400 dollars due Mr Hughs for supplies, For which, and in other Business he visits, Washington, which balance [focus?] [den?], it is hoped will be the pleasure of the Department to settle.
