Sir
I have the liberty of addressing you a few lines in regard to a claim that I have against the Indian Department. My claim was forwarded to Com Dole by Supt Wentworth of Cala the papers consist of Supt McDuffie to me (he was apointed [appointed?] by Com [Greenwood?] to investigate all claims against the [Ind?] Dept in [illegible?]) and vouchers for the amount of three hundred and sixteen ($316.00) dollars. I went to Washington City last winter called on Com Dole stated the [nature?] of my claims. Mr Dole [illegible?] me to [see?] Supt Wentworth on the next day Supt Wentworth and [illegible?] in the Com Office he Wentworth [illegible?] stated that he was well satisfied that I have rendered the [services?] claimed the matter was then referred to the Hon Secy of the Interior. Some [line?] [illegible?] [illegible?] a copy of a letter from the Ind Com wich [which] was from the Hon Secy of Interior to the [effect?] that the claim had to be certified by the [illegible?] or an affidavit of the claimant I [illegible?] [illegible?] [illegible?] affidavit to the [illegible?]

I hope that the claim will meet with a favorable consideration as I have faithfully rendered the services claimed and hope that the Government will remunerate me.
I hope you will pardon me for writing at length but as there has been a change in [your?] Dept I thought a small history would not be amiss.
