I have to acknowledge the
receipt of your communication of the 12th instant (12th of June) calling
my attention to the act of forgiveness approved March 3 1865
where in the [illegible] general of California is amde a member of a
Board of appraisal of improvements of settlers upon lands in
Hoopa Valley Reservation.

In reply to your request the necessary instructions have
this day been issued to the [illegible] General for his early cooperation
in the duties assigned to him by law in the appraisal
of improvements of settlersin the [illegible] reservation.
